El Happy Band of Japan existe desde el 2004. Desde entonces han auto-producido 3 discos y tienen varias canciones en iTunes. El grupo también hizo conciertos en Londres, Alemania, Estados Unidos y España.
Actualmente instalado en Barcelona, el grupo incluye Dan a la voz y guitarra, Jerome al bajo y Sergio, baterista mallorquí. El sonido del Happy Band es una mezcla soleada de pop erudito con varios elementos digitales añadidos.

"...with pocket psych-pop symphonies like “It’s Not Love” and “Shout It Out” balanced by the sleepy, starlit sway of “Sycamore Tree” and the vamping, mutating anthem “Your Head Lets In The Rain,” the Happy Band looks to have found some distinctly odd territory in between bands like My Bloody Valentine, Toto and The Byrds that they can call their own. Melodies and shape-shifting rhythms tangle and dance about this record while tunes slow down, speed up, change direction and generally appear to have lives of their own. Scott and his partners in crime (wife and keyboardist, Trish, allied to a multinational rhythm section and local guitarist) compress all of these dynamics into three minute rushes of beautifully twisted music."
