About Me
Graduate of the Conservatory of Bari in piano, Michelangelo Decorato has afterwards
approached at Jazz music with Roberto Ottaviano obtaining a further degree in jazz music. Then he has attended several masterclasses with Enrico Pierannunzi, Stefano Battaglia and Danilo Rea.After various experiences with numerous groups and musicians, he has settled permanently in his trio, taking up his personal research relating to the Afro-American music language, but always with an attentive eye at searching his “good sound†and favouring a certain manner of interplaying, borrowed from chamber music.
In December 2006 he took part in his first recording titled “Circleâ€, playing in quartet with Francesco Bearzatti, Emanuele Maniscalco and Andrea Lamacchia. The CD, which contains original pieces by Michelangelo Decorato and a personal interpretation of the famous song "Estate" by Bruno Martino, has achieved several positive reviews by the critics . Danilo Rea comments on the CD in this way: «The harmonic and melodic research, as well as the great performance, make the Michelangelo’s work very original and mature yet »
Circle Trio, besides proposing original pieces, interprets the standars trying to create every times a capturing sound never stock. The main object the group would like to pursue consist in generating performances in which the melodic joints produce a unique stream, ... to say it as Zawinul: "Everybody improvises, nobody improvises".
Moved to Milan in 2006, where he actually lives, Michelangelo has started to collaborating as accompanist for modern ballet in School of Dance of Teatro alla Scala, and at the same time he has been increasing his experience into the jazz music, establishing important collaborations. He has been invited to perform in several well-known festivals and events and also for prestigious concert institutions such as Torino Extra festival, Time Zones, Peperoncino Jazz Festival, Festival delle Serre, Hotel de Paris di Montecarlo, Blue Note, Le Scimmie, Fondazione Pomodoro etc...)
