About Me

Circuit Breaker is Dan Sheen, a 17 year old producer from Nottinghamshire. Dan began producing just over a year ago in an effort to merge melody, feedback and synthesizers. The Circuit Breaker sound fluctuates between blissed out shoegaze grooves to hard hitting techno punk and has been compared to Massive Attack, Primal Scream and Spiritualized. All his tracks are written and recorded in his bedroom studio, often with a little help from a few mates. Dan has also contributed songs to the 3am Association, a Trip Hop collective from Nottingham centered around Adrian Kelly.

Sounds Like: 'Dan Sheen is a (mere) 17 year old from Nottingham who is already showing some good potential. He has a musical foot in both the trippy rock and electronica camps. Despite Dan's best attempts to describe his own music you should really try it for yourself because I don't think even he really knows what he's got. There's controlled feedback of a guitar, drum machines, sequences a semi-sung, slightly ethereal/trippy backing and vocal line. The end result is a somewhat of a home-made sounding electro/ambient vibe, but he clearly already has a good ear and a sharp mind for structuring music.' - The Music ReviewEveryone Does It - Machine-driven, post-punk sounding stuff, which is pretty much just the ticket at the mo, in terms of market appeal. It's fuckin' great. 8/10 - The Living Atheist'What a great proposition, You Know It's Wrong Cus Everyone Does It' - Tom Robinson 6Music 'Some good stuff in there, definitely a nice respite at work! keep it up fella' - Alex (Shadowplay Fanzine)'You've got something really good going on here, keep going! im well impressed! much love-jagz :-)' Jagz Kooner (Produced - Primal Scream, Prodigy, Reverend and the Makers)Something fuzzy & urgent to get you out of bed this morning. For a 17 year old lad from the Midlands, Dan Sheen has a frighteningly brilliant grasp on how to go about writing & producing DIY electro-psychedelic anthems. “Everyone Does It” is an unholy juggernaut of a song, the sound of someone with a blowtorch in a squall of electric guitar feedback & hypercatchy vocal hooks. The lit fuse snakes and burns through sounds reminiscent of bands like The Jesus & Mary Chain and Spiritualized, but with a post-modern punk fuzz to keep it sounding interesting. Pick a scene of debauchery and “bang” - here’s your new soundtrack. If musical review ratings went up to 11, this would probably be a 12. - Smally (The Daydream Generation)
