These ideas are Work in Progress -I started messing with electronic stuff mixed with accoustic in 1990 in my home town Basildon. That's when I got hold of a Roland 606 drum machine and a Korg Monopoly synth, they belonged to DEPECHE MODE, but had been left on top of my mates wardrobe who was renting a flat from a connection to the band, blah blah. Anyhow- Depeche had gone on to bigtime, so the machines were MINE. I learnt how to use them with no manuals and only by trial and error coupled with an earache. Got hold of an Atari 1040st and a newer drum box dr660.. Was given a burnt copy of CueBase from the living underground legend NOEL WATSON, who I may say is a real down to earth star who has time for everyday poeple and to whom I'm grateful to, for allowing a small kid like me to come into his world, even if it was only for brief spells. I learnt a lot from watching him work whether programming or DJ'ing. I picked up the guitar again which I'd begun to learn as a kid, and got into it. I didn't want to be in a band. I was BADLY limited in hardware studio equipment etc.(nothing changed there then)so I was stuck with basic beats from my roland DR660 to make a mix of guitar stuff over beats.. The house scene by then for me, seemed to be turning inside-out, with great nights becoming harder to find. I left the whole scene and the study of my craft, upon the shelf for 8 years to straighten out my life to become a real human being - try to raise a family properly and to earn an honest shilling. Thanks to a very good friend, I also embraced Islam which sorted me out BIG TIME - Better than the finest Acid/Cocaine cocktail. Better than waking up to a fresh pound of very sensible dark green herbs everyday... Really can't be topped. Not everyones cuppa granted, but does me a treat keeps me clean with my feet on the ground,no back bitting, cheating or nasty behaviour.(one tries anyhow)Recently I've been inspired by Yusuf Islam to pick up the music again..all be it on a part time basis.I hooked up with John Ray from Fake Ray and Malluka who has helped me tons n tons. He has produced the sketches for me "Seez Every Move" "Rapscallion" and "" 2Yung 2B Down", All of which are still in progress. I consider him to be damm fine musician and flippin mustard guitarist. He's had many bands and has gigged till the cows come home, his last band was called 'Malluka'. I feel very fortunate to be involved with him. I now get lyrical n melodic ideas down at home along with accoustic Guitar or just digital Beat compositions - I use a dodgy PC that loves the Blue screen and a free demo copy of FL studio xxL (can't save projects)!! I have very limited times with Ray when we can, in his programming room, come studio, located deep-down in the depths of sunny Shorditch Brick lane,East London UK, where the Vampires, Goths and skinny legged folk party into to the small hours. Peace to all, DeCee - JyfulColours
