People often ask me, 'Where did it all start?' 'What was it like being there at the begining!?' The classic clubs, the legends i've had the fortune to work with, the music I have witnessed being made, the rise of dance music and the night scene, spinin at warehouse parties with Norman Jay at 17 years old in 86. 'What was it like?' they ask me, 'to stand in for Oakenfold at Heaven?' or 'learning to re-edit disco classics in Derek May's living room?'. It was like 8 hour sets at N.Y afterhours spots like Mars and Nells Save The Robots with Larry Levan,asking me to spin Black or White by MJ!!!!. Or it was like chi chi West End girls like Sade dancin to Planet Rock, as I look on from behind the 1's & 2's. This was the 80's, the days when i did the design and soundsystem in Blackmarket Records. This was before mobiles, i-Pods, digital downloads and the internet. I was 20 and one of the worlds, hottest dj's/re-mixers. In 96 I was invited to become a resident at The Ministry of Sound , following Tony Humphries, 5 till 10am Sunday mornings, every Dj's dream. Dub delays, exclusives, the worlds hottest records all driven through the worlds best sound system. 3 turntables, a Tascam reel to reel, an infamous Urie mixer and a G.S.M Crossover. I held that down for 3 years, goin hard every week. So I tell em, 'i've Spinned at clubs, private shows/release parties for everyone from Pharrel Williams to Beenie Man and got 3 or 4 Platinums Plagues along the way. I don't really like talking about myself but this is my history in the MUSIC game. 19 years in this here City of London.
