I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Life is meant to be enjoyed, and that's exactly what I've been doing as much as possible. I love nature and dancing like a maniac to live music and SCUBA diving and camping and delicious vegetarian food (from pizza to tofu) and hoppy beer and travel and anything else that gets me in touch with the joy that comes from being a free spirit.I was lucky enough to partner up with my best friend just after college and the two of us have been exploring the world as much as possible since then. Bryan and I have driven all over the country exploring National Parks and cool towns; worked abroad in Australia and Taiwan; backpacked through Central and South America, Southeast Asia, The Philippines, and Mexico; and lived in California, Washington, D.C., Maui, Seattle, Durango, New Orleans (until Katrina), the Big Island and now Denver. I've met so many incredible people and seen so many beautiful places that I feel grateful a lot of the time. (Until I start thinking about Bush! I'm also what Al Franken calls a "Progressive Patriot.")

My Interests

Writing, photography, reading, independent bookstores, hiking and camping, activism, travel, meditation, being crazy Auntie Jenny to my awesome nephews and nieces, swimming and SCUBA, live music, skiing, the Boston Red Sox, an end to this damn war

I'd like to meet:

President Barack Obama

Authors I love include Kurt Vonnegut (he even spoke at my graduation from Syracuse! Doesn't get any better), Alice Walker, Barbara Kingsolver, Rita Mae Brown, David Sedaris, Stephen King (books like The Stand or The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, not the truly terrifying stuff), Maya Angelou, Joyce Carol Oates, Gary Snyder, Orson Scott Card, Margaret Atwood...specific books are Weaveworld, by Clive Barker; Another Country, by James Baldwin; Bel Canto, by Ann Patchett; The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath; The Monkey Wrench Gang, by Ed Abbey; On the Road, by Jack Kerouac. And the Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama. Gobama!

Heroes:

Martin Luther King Jr. and my "goddessmother," Zora Charles
