Anything by George R.R. Martin. 'The Plucker' by the artist Brom. Faeries by Brian Froud. Modern Manners by PJ O'Rourke is just fantastic. Art technique books. Charles deLint and urban fantasy, his short stories are wonderful. Mad Libs. I love Norse and Greek mythology like the Eddas.
Ghost stories are also a favorite of mine though I typically find the Hans Holzer books rather amusing as opposed to frightening. Stephen R. Donaldson, the Harry Potter books (not movies, the movies blow) Terry Brooks...
