ARTISTS! Arm yourself with knowledge. The Artist's Survival Seminar is designed for any creative person (With a degree or self-taught) who wishes to succeed in the real world of fine arts and commercial art. Art school may teach you the finer aspects of technique, composition and style , but not how to actually approach and succeed in the very competitive art market .With emphasis on the do's and don'ts and pitfalls which almost every emerging artist goes through en route to establishing themselves in the commercial and fine arts world, the Seminar will arm you with the knowledge you'll use for the rest of your professional career. Topics including the marketing, business and exhibition aspects which are never covered in art school, as well as the psychological effects and how to beat the "game" of fine art submissions. The Artists Survival Seminar is both a traveling lecture and "hands-on" workshop where the secrets and unspoken realities are brought to the fore. The Artists Survival Seminar was created by Rick Manore, the founder of Detroit's most popular and influential gallery , CPop Gallery. Manore , who helped launch the careers of many international artists such as Glenn Barr, Niagara, Tristan Eaton , Mark Dancey & Matt Gordon , to mention but a few of the one time , unknown artists who went on to major success in the fine art and commercial art world. Manore , along with guest lecturers such as , 3 time Emmy Award -winning art director, Gary Panter (Pee Wee's Playhouse) , Nickelodeon's Steven Cerio, MotorBooty Publisher, Mark Dancey and White Stripes CD cover Photographer, Ewolf all bring invaluable input on the business and climate of art and commerce with real world, real situation experience to help round out the experience. Mr Manore and a guest are available to come to your school or Art Association and deliver a 3 hour , hands on and interactive workshop for artists of all mediums , specially designed to apply to all types of artists - and their individual personalities. Some of the topics covered: THE PROPER WAY TO SUBMIT WORK / MOST FREQUENT MISSTEPS BY ARTISTS DISCUSSED/ HOW TO MARKET YOURSELF (The fine line between promotion and pretension)/ THE PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECT OF ART VS COMMERCE/ DEALING WITH REJECTION (How to turn negative responses into positive results)/ GALLERIES AND AD AGENCIES/ REAL WORLD PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS/ HOW TO UTILIZE THE PRESS AND MEDIA (even if you're not a "houshold name"/ Plus many more topics and problems that artists should know and understand if they want to compete and excel in the business of art.Schools don't teach this- because they can't. Art school doesn't deal or prepare you for the "real world" of art. With our accumulated experience in dealing with all levels of the fine/commercial art world, we will tell you the secrets that galleries would never tell , and how best to exploit this knowledge to achieve success in the fine art world. With over 15 years of showing, developing and promoting contemporary art , The folks behind The Artist's Survival Seminar have proven track record of success, and influence within the fine arts world. The award-winning, CPop Gallery has been argueably one of the most influential galleries in the whole genre of Pop/Comic Expressionism , and a reputation for breaking new and exciting talent from not only Detroit, but the world. As seen numerous times in JUXTAPOZ , ART FORUM, WORLD ART and many other publications , CPop Gallery prides itself on discovering and promoting new and exciting artists. Here's a great chance to get a leg up in the art world. Call or write us for all the details.
