About Me
ABOUT THE SONGS ON OUR PROFILE:
NOTHIN' AT ALL (Big Drill Car)
This track was recorded for the long-awaited tribute CD "And You'll Spin" to one of California's best bands, BIG DRILL CAR. Recorded in two days with Paul at the board once again. The only change on this recording is the absence of guitarist IKE ROBISON. Taking his place on the recording is former JUGHEAD'S REVENGE/KILL*DETAIL axeman, JOEY R. The CD was released on August 13th, 2008 on Itchy Korean Records at the BIG DRILL CAR Reunion Show.

WEAKEND
This is a song that was written back in 1999-2000 and put on the ‘to-do list’ because something was missing at the time. A song about “lossâ€, this track now shows the true feeling of betrayal as originally intended.

PENNY (Y.U.B.Y.C.)
Originally titled "You're Ugly But You're Cheap" but changed when in this version's chorus the girl is named as Penny. When the song was re-recorded a year later with GEZA X producing the name was removed. This song was recorded at Whipping Post Audio in Los Angeles and features MARK J. TOMORSKY on the sqwuaking guitar lead. This was released on the "Twelve Ounce Inspiration" CD on BURNING TREE RECORDS in 2005.

I WANT THE MOON (Leatherface)
Originally written by Sunderland's Leatherface, this track was recorded for a tribute CD but for some reason didn't make the final cut. Instead the track was released on the Euorpean Only CD release, "on the side..." on EURO-6122 RECORDS in 2003. DLP's line-up was different on this recording, which included "ANGRY" JOHN DiMAMBRO (of DOWN BY LAW, AGENT ORANGE) on bass and JOHN BAKER (OF 900 POUND GORILLA, THE PISSING IDIOTS, MAD BEAT VISION) on guitar. Gizz, Ike and Jeff Edwards filled out the rest of this recording's line-up.

DEATH FOR THE DEAD
This track is from the 1998 NEW RED ARCHIVES CD release "Lonely Street". JOSH, a friend of DLP's did the Native American chant and scream at the beginning of the song.

CONSPIRACY OF ONE
This track is from the 1994 self-release "Meat Whistle EP". The line-up for this recording included JEFF YEARSLEY (of FOR SALE) and JEFF EDWARDS as well as Gizz, Chris and Steve. This is actually the first song to feature Gizz as the band's lead vocalist.

We hope you enjoy each of these songs as much as we enjoyed recording them!
And remember... The Drunker You Get, The Better We Sound!!!!
OK, so here's the deal... Van Nuys 1990: Chris "XL" Long-guitar (ex-Bad Samaritans, Damnation, Glue Gun, Haunted Garage and more) hooks up with Gizz "G.Lo" Lazlo-lead vocals (ex-Kill*Detail [formerly Jughead's Revenge], BadTown Boys, U.K. Subs, DeRita Sisters, For Sale, Camelboy [from Bremen, Germany], Electric Ferrets and many more) and Steve "XploStevo" Simpronio-bass (ex-For Sale, Bedlam/Ritalin). In 2007 they get hooked up with Don "Rokken" McCurdy-drums (ex-Twister Naked, Mojo Rib, The Bottom Feeders) and the magic just seems to happen. After 13 years Ike Robsion leaves the band and is replaced by Chris Del Rio (ex-Los Infernos, Y.A.P.O., The Vengents) who brings youth and a new ear for songwriting to the Kings of Beer.
During the 18 years of DLP there were other people who came and went like;
Ike Robison (guitarist; BadTown Boys, Electric Ferrets), Luis E. (guitarist; The Grim, For Sale, Buford, Kill 99), Jeff Yearsley (guitarist; For Sale), Jeff Edwards (drummer; Glue Gun, ifoundgod, 900 Pound Gorilla), John, Paul, Ringo, George (okay, there was never a Ringo or George but that was funny! Sheesh, maybe not!), John Baker (guitarist; Mad Beat Vision, The Pissing Idiots, 900 Pound Gorilla), Paul Luke (bassist; Shutdown, Red Sky Warning, Verses the Sun), Eric King (drummer; Just for Today), Todd Guzman (guitarist; The Electric Ferrets), "Angry" John DiMambro (bassist; Agent Orange, Down By Law), Stephan X (vocalist; Foreign Object, BadTown Boys), Sharif Dumani (backing vocalist; Something From Nothing, Buford, The Dining Room Set, The Moon Upstairs) and Dave Perry (drummer; Psychedelicatessen, Bad Samaritans, Foreign Object).
The whole idea behind DLP is to play no-bullshit rock and roll with a punk ethic and attitude. Think hard, fast, loud and melodic with a sense of humor. They've played way too many shows to count locally, they've recorded a bunch of CDs and have toured nationally a bunch of times.
Influences, as they've been told are; Motorhead, Doughboys, Leatherface, Snuff, Pegboy, Samiam, Black Flag, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Poison Idea, The Beatles, The Stones, Social D., Sam Kinison and Redd Foxx. Just good-ol' fashion, out-of-control "beer swillin' punk rock 'n' roll" kinda stuff.
Some interesting facts about DLP are; Gizz, who was the original drummer from 1990-1992 was diagnosed with cancer in 1992 and was out of commission for 2 years and when the band reformed in 1994 Gizz permanently switched to lead vocals. They were once introduced to the stage by NBA All-Star (Pistons & Lakers) and TV/Radio personality, John Salley for a "Battle of the Bands" at the Troubadour in 1997. Gizz was shot in the left forearm on Halloween night 1999 in Corpus Christi, Texas while on tour with DLP pulling double-duty as their lead singer AND drummer. They've been approached by Atlantic Records... twice!! They've recorded more albums (CDs) than they've released. They've written over 140 original songs to date and recorded somewhere in the neighborhood of 170 songs (including covers, demos and live album tracks). They've been sponsored by Schecter Guitars, Axis Drum Pedals, Sabian Cymbals, Yoo-hoo Chocolate Drink, Puma Shoes & Clothing, Porn Star Clothing, Choice Snowboards, NLA - No Limit America Clothing, Crime Pay$ Clothing, Allegience Cycles plus a whole bunch of other companies who shall remain nameless for legal reasons but in 18 years they've never been sponsored by the one company they actually promote the most... Budweiser. Hmmmm, strange! They've licensed many songs worldwide to media outlets for television and radio commercials most recently to Snickers (yeah, the candy bar) and an upcoming television game show called "Showdown". MTV's "True Life" featured a DLP tune in an episode and The Discovery Channels "Monster Garage" used a song for a video released on the internet. Check it out at: www.monstergarage.com. Two members hit their 30's long, long, long, long ago and two are in their 40's now. Gizz was the baby of the band until Chris Del Rio joined. Steve used to have long, flowing, golden hair and so did Ike except his was curly and brown. Don has cut himself shaving more than a few times and actually owns two sets of cymbals. As for XL, he lives right down the street from... well, just about everyone... maybe even you!!
SOME REVIEWS, QUOTES AND STUFF OVERHEARD FROM PEOPLE AT OUR SHOWS!
"This ain't your father's rock and roll. Hell, it ain't even your momma's, your brother's, or even yours. This all belongs to Dead Lazlo's Place. Like a biker gang at a baby shower, they've come to wreck havok, cause trouble and have a good time. But don't freak out just yet, they brought beer."
"Picture Motorhead and Social Distortion in a back-alley knife fight over girls they stole from the Descendents."
"...then we were treated to an unplugged performance from LA's DLP. Wow! Acoustic Cholo Metal? Who'da thunk?"
"And on a warm Saturday evening in South El Monte we saw LA's least favorite sons (a title they hold with pride I would assume) play a crazy, chaotic set of new classics and old favorites to a few hundred drunken party goers. There were thugs, there were dames, there were stage dives from the roof and police activity. There was even a midget breakdancing on a bed of jalapeno peppers. Only at a DLP show!"
"Dead Lazlo's Place are a bunch of dudes from Nowheresville, playing music no one cares about in a city full of self-absorbed fuck wads, to a crowd too dumb to know that they have witnessed true genius."
"They [DLP] kill it everynight and deliver all the goods; angry, loud, and beautiful."
"Fuck the drunken sloganeering wanna-be rebels. Fuck the pretty boy hipster ass fags. Fuck the sheep who won't admit to liking something until all their friends do and then copping a "I heard 'em first" attitude. Fuck the jadded, seen-it-all fashion robots. This ain't music, this is war!
