My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I grew up on what you would call opensource. In Dec of 1994 one of my OS/2 Warp disk decided to expire (Disk 13 iirc). This after a bout of multitasking with Windows 3.11; basically it was a joke and I needed multi tasking that worked. I was probably around 14 at the time. Ran into an IBM engineer, he told me about this thing Linux. I'd had some experience in highschool screwing around with Vax machines at Hofstra University. He then gave me a CD with a copy of it. Thats it. I proceeded to use Linux exclusively for a while then fooled around with Freebsd for a while. I like C, bash, and perl. I currently work for a server company. Creating and building the custom linux distribution and manage, perform package monkey duties and patch items of need when and where I can (usually, kernel drivers (for whatever piece of new crap that only has binary modules for 2.4, userspace apps etc etc etc). My favorite opensource project is GnomeMeeting because its an underdog yet its software such as this that really allows people to communicate freely. When all is said and done GnomeMeeting is one of the few apps to allow free communication. I'm a wild cherry pepsi bigot and detest coke. I'm beginning to fall in love with Freebsd after this last year of extensive bugs and beating my head over issues involving glibc, gcc and the core system that makes up a linux system.
