Influenced by such 80’s party bands as Van Halen, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Cheap Trick and AC/DC, it is very guitar driven hard rock. The Band is: Zachary Huckabee - Age 13 - Lead Vocals and Drums, Joshua Huckabee - Age 16 - Lead Guitar and Backup Vocals, Joe "Dad" Huckabee - Age ? - Bass. The band started in September of 2003 when Joshua (12) and Zachary (9) both decided that they wanted to learn to play Music. Dad (a musician since grade school) was thrilled at his sons’ interest. So Dad started teaching the basics to Joshua on guitar and Zachary on the drums. Within a few months it became obvious that the boys were progressing so fast that Dad’s knowledge (as a Bass player) of drums and guitar was limited and the boys had already exceeded his abilities on their respective instruments. It was time to recruit help. Through various family friends, guitarists and drummers, Josh and Zach started getting lessons.
By August 2004, they had a 10 song set list and played their first gig at a birthday party. From there it has snowballed. They have played a number of shows in the Los Angeles area, highlighted by a performance on the syndicated Mark and Brian Radio Show on KLOS in Los Angeles. After a phone call to win tickets to Mark and Brian’s annual Christmas Show, the boys were invited to perform on the show. The song they played over the phone to win tickets was Van Halen’s "Panama." Because this was a Christmas show, the band decided to rewrite the lyrics to give the song a holiday feel and the song became "Santa Claus."
The band has some upcoming shows and is currently booking more. Their stage show is high energy, good time hair metal full of original songs written by Josh and Zach as well as covers of the 80s greatest hits. The Huckabees have performed at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal City Walk, The Key Club in Hollywood The Joint in Beverly Hills, The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, Lake Alice in Riverside, The World Famous Whiskey a Go Go, many private parties, various carnivals and fairs....the list goes on and on.
