About Me

This Myspace is to raise awareness about vivisection and the remarkable part Barry played in trying to stop it.
Barry was a dedicated animal liberation activist. In 1991-2 he served a 3 year sentence for possession of explosives. In 1996 he was arrested linked to arson again and remanded in custody, later to be given a shocking 18 year sentence. He embarked on 3 serious hunger strikes the last of which lasted 68 days. He died in 2001 in custody, having never recovered properly from that last hunger strike
Please read about him in the blogs above, look through the photos and add him as one of your top friends to spread information about Barry. Thank-you.
A quote from Barry:
"Capitalism and animal abuse go hand in hand and for them there is no profit in life, only death, no fast buck to be made from understanding, no financial killing to be made from peace and compassion when money comes from suffering, pain and war."

My Interests

Ending animal slavery and slaughter under whatever guise it comes under.

I'd like to meet:

Barry would encourage anyone with an interest in animal rights/liberation issues to get involved in campaigns, prisoner support and hopefully direct action.

Heroes:

A quote from a friend of Barry's:
"I got to know Barry when we swapped letters whilst we were both in prison for animal liberation activities. His letters were always of the greatest inspiration and wickid humour; we also loved to swap our philosophies. Months later we met when we were both free and immediately hit it off, despite the fact he was quite a quiet man. Over the next several years when we met we would continue to share thoughts on life, animal abuse, the capitalist 'system' and how to stop it along with having a few drinks and a laugh.
I was devastated to hear of his last arrest and attended his sentencing of 18 years which was outrageous. I supported him during his 3 hunger strikes as much as I could and managed to visit him towards the end of his 3rd effort, knowing in my heart that it was the last time I would see him. Later, on hearing of his death I cried many tears, and still do to this day. However, he was and indeed, is, of great inspiration to many people around the world. The injustice of animal abuse, war, exploitation and the prison system burns a fire in our hearts. Please spread the word of his achievements and help to end animal abuse."
