Asteriks is a former b-boy, rapper, now DJ and music producer.His passion has been hip hop, ever since he first heard it being played on a feint, crackly pirate radio station during the summer of 1982.He purchased a high end Sampling Drum Machine a few years later and began building beats.Soon he began to develop his library of beats into fully-fledged hip hop instrumentals for others to also enjoy.It was only whilst at uni that he acknowledged and commited to the prospect of setting up as a legitimate business and releasing his own material.
Asteriks is quietly confident in his creative abilities, whether on stage as a performer, behind the mixing desk engineering, producing or organizing public events from the ground up. Because he’s had the experience of working in these various areas of the industry, he’s able to appreciate the business from an objective and somewhat clinical vantage point.Although he generally readily champions the genre, Asteriks chooses not to partake in hip-hops’ increasing tendency to over-hype and under-deliver. Rather he would happily continue to make beats to the delight of his own foot-tapping; head-nodding indulgencies, pandering not to the any external pressure to produce formulaic, uninspiring music in pursuit of volume sales or popularity.Asteriks relentlessly continues to spend long days and nights in the studio making beats - firstly for himself, but hey, even if only a select few on the planet can dig his flow and support the cause by purchasing a copy of his brand new beats CD entitled ‘Liquid Diamonds’, he’s flattered by that undeniable mark of approval.
