About Me

He has stuffed animal heads on the wall, owns several (long) guns and bows, is partial to big old American-made luxury barges, and he really prefers bourbon over wine. This Alabama boy must be a redneck, probably a conservative, right? Um ... noooooooooooooooo. I'm an ultra-liberal, yellow dog Democrat who believes much of the money George Bush has flushed down the rathole of Iraq should've been spent to alleviate problems here. Yet for my firm belief that we should have a strong central and tax-supported government that takes care of its people, I believe that government should not go into the bedrooms of consenting adults. It should not tell adults what to do with their bodies. It should not require its citizenry to embrace or even acknowledge religion. If you insist on saying grace, you'll catch me with a mouthful of food. If you think I'd choose John McCain over Hillary Clinton or Barrack Obama, you don't know me at all. I believe it's better to create than to destroy, and as a writer and artist, I prefer the keyboard and canvas. You can see some of my creations at www.mikehandleyart.com.

My Interests

Writing, reading, photography, art, playing bridge, Africa, pre-'98 Lincoln Town Cars, whiskey sours, a good German reisling, the perfect pepperoni pizza, bowhunting, NATURISM and really good horror movies (though they're few and far between nowadays).
