My Interests

Classical music, literature, politics, foreign affairs, travel, food and cooking.

I'd like to meet:

My next friend.

Music:

I love all sorts of music, but classical is my favorite. Symphonic, choral, opera / oratorio, chamber music of all kinds, solo piano music, and a lot more. Love classic 60's rock (Stones / Beatles / Yardbirds / Jefferson Airplane / Hendrix / the Who / Neil Young), blues (Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter are my favorites), folk music (both American and British), a little country music (Hank Williams, and anyone who can write), singer/ songwriters. Listening to a lot of Brahms and Bob Dylan these days. They have nothing in common at all, but that makes no difference.

Movies:

"Casablanca" / "Key Largo" type movies - film noir generally. Foreign films, drama, sci-fi, some comedy.

Television:

I watch "Countdown with Keith Oberman", and some of the "Law and Order" things - but I don't really watch much of anything consistently. Gets in the way of music and reading.

Books:

"Right is Wrong" by Arianna Huffington

Heroes:

Keith Richards, Neil Young, and Ludwig van Beethoven - for consistently refusing to compromise, and for following their muse wherever it has taken them, in spite of fashion, and in the face of criticism, but most of all, for being able to consistently knock out riffs that kick you in the stomach.
