SLIDESHOW
The slideshow above covers several years of my musical life, my ever-changing gear, and just a few of the great guitarists I've been blessed to meet. The pics of famous guitarists were mostly taken a guitar shows in Dallas. I had a good friend in Dallas who got me a pass to the Hard Rock Cafe event where they were doing a tribute to studio guitarists. That is where the pics of Larry Carlton and Chet Atkins came from. There were about 50 famous guitarists and bassists in that place like Lee Ritenour, Steve Cropper, Lee Sklar, Tommy Tedesco, Ted Nugent and Vivian Campbell. During the guitar show I also met Eric Johnson, Duane Eddy, Fred Newell, Bruce Kulick and Paul Stanley of KISS, Jon Butcher, GE Smith, Elliott Easton, Vinnie Moore, Tony McAlpine, Tom Kiefer and several more I can't remember.
BIO
I started playing guitar after seeing Steve Lukather on the Toto IV tour in July 1982. I was absolutely blown away by his over-the-top energy, lightning fast playing, great sense of melody, and incredible tone. By listening to everything I could get my hands on with Steve Lukather on it, my playing progressed rapidly.
By early 1985, I was asked to play with some of the best musicians in my area. One member of that band, Anthony Sallee, went on to play professionally with Whiteheart (Dann Huff), Michael W. Smith, Phil Keaggy, and several other artists as a studio bassist. Playing with guys that were better than me improved my playing even more.
In 1991, the band Nehemiah was formed by myself, keyboardist Bill Rebsamen, and drummer Kirk Gaither. Nehemiah released it's first album, "Dangerous", in 1993. It was brilliantly engineered by our long-time friend and former lead singer Chuck Law. Nehemiah became a regional success and attracted the ear of several industry people. Mark Clay, bassist from Nehemiah from 1992 to 1994, was recruited into a professional gig and has now been the bassist for the legendary Christian group, Newsong, for several years.
In 2003, Nehemiah gracefully retired from the music scene but several of its members are still working together on other new projects.

Band Members: "Band Members" is kind of a misnomer because there are a lot of people who work together but aren't necessarily "in a band" together. The guys I have played with for the last several years (and they are still my best friends) are my "band members". My upcoming musical project will include them first if they are available.

Bill Rebsamen , Keyboards

Aaron Martin , Bass

Kirk Gaither, Drums

I am working on Bill's current project with him and Kirk called Young Earth . Young Earth is a prog rock band that recently had a song on CPR Volume 2 with other artists such as Neal Morse and Glass Hammer.

Other people I would like to acknowledge who I have been in bands with, who are also still good friends, and some of who may appear on upcoming projects are:

Rodney Huckey , Deron Freeman, Buddy Ashcraft, Wendell Rye, Joshua Brant (Jonah33), Mark Clay (Newsong), Chad Jasna, Joe Craine, Danny Cox, Greg Gibbons, Kendall Combes , Jorge Schwarz, Chuck Law, Donny Riley, Anthony Sallee (Michael W. Smith, Whiteheart, Phil Keaggy), Richard Russell, Tim Sallee.

Sounds Like: This is a really hard question to answer. I listen to just about every style of music there is. I like just about anything as long as it is done professionally. Over the course of a week I might listen to Toto, Planet X, Sevendust, Stevie Wonder, Dream Theater, Chet Atkins, Jeff Beck, Chick Corea, Gretchen Wilson, or Evanescence.

My biggest influence over the years has been Steve Lukather and I have no doubt that comes out in my playing. But I think I sound more like Mike Landau's session playing just because I tend to be a little more reserved and play around the melody line of the song.

Because I listen to so many different things, my playing may sound different from one day to the next. You can hear that by listening to the songs above.

The new material that I am working on won't sound like any of the songs that are currently on this page. The songs will be more musically complex and in the fusion/instrumental rock genre.
