Urs Wittwer, nascido na Suica em 1979, comecou a tocar bateria aos 12 anos. Tocava em bandas da escola e comecou a ter aulas com Dave Doran aos 19. Enquanto tocava em muitas bandas, musica foi se tornando sua paixao. Decidiu entao estudar mais seriamente bateria e teve aulas com Billy Brooks na Escola Suica de Jazz (Swissjazzschool), em Berna. Depois de um ano, mudou-se para Basel para estudar com Julio Barreto na universidade de musica da Basel durante 5 anos. Durante seus estudos, ele participou de varios grupos e Bigbands, tocando uma variedade de estilos. Em 2004, ganhou o premio de Friedl- Wald uma Fundacao na Suica. Alem de estudar com Julio Barreto e Samuel Rohrer Urs tambem atendeu a diferentes aulas chamadas „Masterclasses“, com renomados musicos internacionais como: Jorge Rossi, Jeff Gardner, Mario Gonzi, Nate Smith, Tony Martinez, etc. Em 2005 ele comecou a tocar com o guitarrista Jan Trosch e junto com baixista Pierre Sottas eles formaram uma banda instrumental chamada „iTrio.“ Depois de tocar em muitos shows com essa banda eles gravaram o primeiro Album que sera lancado em meados de abril de 2008. Como suas preferencias musicais sao em musica Brasileira e Cubana ele deciciu se mudar para America do Sul (depois de se graduar na Academia em Basel em 2007) para se especializar em musica Latina Americana. Urs Wittwer esta no momento morando em Sao Paulo, estudando na escola EM&T com Giba Favery.Urs Wittwer, born in Switzerland in 1979, started to play Drums at the age of 12. After playing in Highschool Bands he started to take lesson with Dave Doran at the age of 19. While playing in several Bands, music became more and more his passion. In order to study drums more serious, he decided to take lessons with Billy Brooks at the Swissjazzschool in Bern. After one year, he moved to Basel to study with Julio Barreto at the music college in Basel. During his studies, he took part of several Groups and Bigbands, playing a variety of styles. In 2004 he got a prize of the Friedl- Wald- foundation in Switzerland. Besides studying with Julio Barreto and Samuel Rohrer he also attended many different Masterclasses with great international artists such as Jorge Rossi, Jeff Gardner, Mario Gonzi, Nate Smith, Tony Martinez, etc. In 2005 he started to play with the guitar player Jan Trösch and together with the bassplayer Pierre Sottas they formed the instrumental Band called „iTrio“. After playing several concerts with that trio, they recorded their first album which is going to be released in spring of 2008. Since he has a preference for cuban and brazilian music, he decided to move to south america after graduating at music college in Basel, in order to keep focusing on latin american music. Urs Wittwer is currently living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, studying at EM&T School with Giba Favery.
