The South African HORRORFEST (aka S.A. HORROR FESTACULAR) is an annual celebration of Horror in all of its shapes and forms, from movies and photography, to games and music......
The 2007 S.A. HORRORFEST was a blast, and it gets better each year. See Blog for rundown and update. Early entries for feature films and short movies are open - see website for details: www.HORRORFEST.info
The short film competition has both a foreign and South African category.......
This Horror Festival Spectacular is the only one of its kind in Southern Africa - it was created and is run by Paul Blom and Sonja Ruppersberg......Based in Cape Town, Paul & Sonja plan to expand the annual S.A. HORRORFEST to the northern regions of South Africa in 2008......
Paul & Sonja are also the key members of TERMINATRYX (and performed a live original soundtrack to the screening of F.W. Murnau's classic 1922 Nosferatu at the 2006 S.A. HorrorFest, and for The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari at the 2007 festival, with special guest artists)...... They've produced music videos and the short movie imPERFECTION...... They also launched and run the SHADOW REALM inc. horror portal and HorrorFest website...... They're finishing the recording of the debut TERMINATRYX album, and are developing a screenplay for a horror film...... In addition, Paul is the South African correspondent for FANGORIA Magazine......The S.A. HORRORFEST, SHADOW REALM inc, and FLAMEDROP PICTURES are subsidiaries of FLAMEDROP PRODUCTIONS, which is owned and run by Paul Blom & Sonja Ruppersberg.......Paul has also launched a new intense film festival, The X FEST (28-30 March 2008), featuring a dozen extreme-, underground-, and cult movies, documentaries and shorts. www.Xfest.org

MOVIES and MUSIC

I'd like to meet:

We’re inviting film fans and filmmakers from all walks of life, no genre restriction - but especially movie enthusiasts with open minds who can dare to gaze into the darker side of cinema and its artistic and entertainment possibilities as opposed to mere exploitation......Horror has so many categories that it can include everything from monsters, killers and sci-fi, to comedy, animation, realism, documentaries and beyond...so anything goes......Musicians and music fans with more extreme tastes and notions, but again, no-one will be discriminated against as everyone’s idea of "extreme" will vary......This year there are documentaries, older classics, fan favourites, brand new, never before seen indies, the live soundtrack perfromance to a silent classic (by TERMINATRYX, LARK and Matthijs Van Dijk).......There will be a FREE opening sneak preview of CAPTIVITY, loads of cool give-aways and more.......See the LINE-UP Blog for all details, or head to www.HORRORFEST.info
