musician guitarist & painterKOSTAS HATZOPOULOSKostas Hatzopoulos was born in Athens - Greece where he presently lives.From an early age he had a strong and versatile artistic inclination which found an outlet in painting, sculpting and above all music.He studied Economics at the University of Athens and at the same time he graduated with honours from the National Conservatory of Greece where he studied classical guitar. During his course of study he participated in several music seminars and performed publicly as a classical guitarist. It was then that he started composing his own music.He was distinguished at the Competition of Greek songwriters in 1982, directed in Corfu by Greece’s prominent composer Manos Hatzidakis. In 1984 he was awarded the first prize at the Competition for Classical Guitar Compositions in Greece for his work «Three Sketches». This work of his, recognised for its lucidity of structure and its original style, was published in the distinguished music magazine TAR.He has worked with Greece’s most prominent musicians and songwriters, has participated in several recorded works, concerts and music shows and has written original scores for television and cinema.Reviews on Kostas Hatzopoulos’ work give emphasis to the fact that he creates dreamy as well as dramatic atmospheres and with his own original way he unfolds a series of sonic landscapes, awakening the listener’s imagination.His work has the rhythmic versatility and strength necessary to sustain a dream like quality in the reality of every day life. His musical vision has the depth of field that makes it possible to incorporate ancient routes into the modern world in a very natural and inspiring way.As a founding member of ANEMOS he composes songs with vocalist-lyricist Katerina Nitsopoulou and give live performances all over Greece.
His unique way of intermixing different musical routes enhances their timeless quality and creates a field where the tangible meets the intangible.
