About Me

Greetings, my name is Dan Gloeckner . I am a cinema enthusiast who has had the privilege to have worked on a few good films.
While born in VA, l have lived in FL most of my life. Now I work and reside in Manhattan when not touring with a Substreamfilms production. I dream and live in a Lefthanded world. Played college club ice hockey. I tend to over-analyze events, things, and sightings. Sleeping in I like, waking up early I do not. I would rather watch a good movie than go out and get jostled by a bunch of drunks at the club. Intelligence is a characteristic I hold in extremely high regard. Cinema saturates my life. I work now as an assistant on other filmmakers' pictures, learning everything I can in an effort to gain a greater grasp and knowledge of this medium so that once I secure/accuire/write the perfect property I can create a production of my own that I am passionate about.
Dan Gloeckner's IMDB.com Profile
One of my favorite pictures that I've been a part of is Cracker Crazy: Invisible Histories of the Sunshine State , a documentary about Florida still on tour in film festivals. This film was edited using mostly archival footage from the Florida State Archives by writer/director Georg Koszulinski .
Winner - Spirit of the Independents Award - Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival
Winner - Best Documentary - United States Super 8 and Video Festival
Winner - Indie Grit Award - Indie Grits Film Festival
Nominated - Best Documentary - Macon Georgia Film and Video Festival
Official Selection - Appalachian Film Festival
Official Selection - Atlanta Underground Film Fesitval
Official Selection - Central Florida Film Festival
Official Selection - Ava Gardner Film Festival
Official Selection - Sunscreen Film Festival
We have had a number of good reviews for the project. You can read one of them here: Review at EFilmCritic.com

"The film is a brave and poignant look at the true history of Florida. Koszulinski’s talent shows through in both his love and animosity for his home state."-- Joshua Zeman co-producer, The Station Agent (won Audience Award, Sundance 2003)
"I fully appreciated the subversive history lesson and swamp boat tour of CRACKER CRAZY."-- Julian Goldberger writer/director, The Hawk is Dying (nonimated Grand Jury Prize, Sundance 2006)
"Wielding his (Super) 8mm camera like a pickax, Miami-bred filmmaker Georg Koszulinski... exposes every little-known fact, racial injustice and flat out catastrophe along the way... should probably be mandatory viewing for all Sunshine state residents." -- Jacksonville's Folio Weekly, March 2007
"Koszulinski did his homework - he plundered state archives for vintage images and footage to mix with his own original footage... which traces the Sunshine State's history from the earliest inhabitants to the present day." -- The Tallahassee Democrat , April 20, 2007
“CRACKER CRAZY enters some impossibly foreboding and shockingly unheard of selections from the history books... invaluable as a tool to better understand how the state came to be." -- Brian Orndorf , EFilmCritic.com
“Stick a q-tip in one of Mickey Mouse’s ears and what comes out is CRACKER CRAZY: it’s not always pretty, but it’s real. Like a tsunami scouring Florida's coastline, Koszulinski’s latest film wipes away the state’s sanitized history to reveal the sludge underneath. I loved it.” -- Jerald T. Milanich , Curator, Florida Museum of Natural History and author, Florida Indians from Ancient Times to the Present.
"CRACKER CRAZY reminds us that beyond the history we read in text books there is often a hidden history, shrouded in myth." -- Howard Schumann, review in Talkingpix
"CRACKER CRAZY is an effective piece of documentary filmmaking, exposing ugly truths and uncovering hidden horrors without lapsing into full-fledged rhetoric and propaganda... a fascinating, often tragic look at the dark side of Florida history." -- John Floyd, Celluloid Dreams
"CRACKER looks to educate the viewer on the history of the state, and how injustice, rivers of blood, and towers of pain were used to build the Sunshine State as we know it today... a history lesson projected on barbed wire..." -- CrackerBoy
"Georg Koszulinski's goal is to show a history of Florida from a different perspective than we've read about in books or were taught in the classroom... it is clear that Koszulinski really did his homework." -- Kari Ann Morgan, Microfilmmaker Magazine
"Koszulinski's revisionist take on the Sunshine State counters the booster veneer of Florida as a paradise of luscious bathing beauties, alligator wrestling and Disney World... Koszulinski suggests Florida's history is composed of a cycle of violence and exploitation, first of the Indians by European colonists and then of blacks by racist citizens and politicians. -- Felica Feaster, Creativeloafing.com
"... what Koszulinski does is take this "visible" cinematic image and report on the "invisible" history underneath... its a very shameful set of events that when you string them together define Florida as something so damaged in its being that it is doomed to a schizophrenic existence that will produce manic results. We start with native Americans and proceed through deliberate injustices, then to vets and the environment, all couched in lies. The gimmick is that we SEE the lies in these archival movies." -- Ted Goranson, Filmsfolded.com
.
Silent Voyeur , is an 80 minute thriller shot on 16mm in and around the small town of Micanopy, Florida. With a very short shooting schedule (10 days) and a cast made up primarily of amateurs and first-time actors, 'Silent' was a challenging film to produce, along with being an extremely challenging film to watch. Be warned, this film is about the making of a snuff film, with a very gruesome scene that has led to a number of walk-outs in the theater.
"...gripping storytelling... looks amazing... from moment one you’re drawn in, opening you up for this sick tale if you’re able to stomach it... “Silent Voyeur” is an experience and it’s one that’s not likely to be forgotten easily." -- Eric Campos, Film Threat
"...the grizzly plot will captivate you and hold your attention throughout. Do not expect any neat resolution, however. This one is in David Lynch territory." -- Howard Schumann, Talking Pictures
"...as a writer [Koszulinski] may have a stellar future...I love this stuff. This isn't quite the untrusted narrator business; the trust issue is all pushed on screen, but there are enough clever elements here that I think we can expect something good from this guy soon." -- Ted Goranson, Films Folded
"...a kick-ass concept... keeps us guessing until the very end... More than just a crime-based puzzle, the story ultimately reaches out beyond this secluded cabin for a thought-provoking capper to this well-crafted indie psychodrama." -- Steven Puchalski, Shock Cinema Magazine
. "Playing like Rashomon meets 8MM, Silent Voyeur is a real treat... a strong script with a dynamic setup, beautiful music... a film that overall looks fantastic. I highly recommend it and can't wait to find more of Mr. Koszulinski 's work." -- Josh Samford, Rogue Cinema
"Director Georg Koszulinski does manage to keep a tidy home and has crafted a nifty little thriller here... script is very smart..." -- Mike Everleth, Bit Lit
