5 megatons of smash

About Me

Brakes has been eating from the rad pizza for four years, and has made two pizza pies of its own- Give Blood (2005) and now, The Beatific Visions. Critics like it, kids like it, grandparents like it, but most importantly, Brakes like it. Brakes is arriving on the western shores of the United States later this month!! The land of the American Hot Deep Pan!! Brakes is over excited about this, and wants to swap dough recipies/topping suggestions with many folk. Brakes will burn like a wood fired oven!! yes!! Our biggest influence is each other.

Sounds Like: Eamon: A combination of Back To The Future (you know the opening scene where he picks up Doc Brown's guitar and the massive amp?) and a Little Richard tape I got for my tenth birthday from my dad.

"Crunching chords and mighty powerful lyrics about God, whisky and catastrophe. Unstoppable." - The Sun

"The Beatific Visions is the shimmy at the end of the world, wide-eyed and wild as it should be." - Pitchfork

"Arctic Monkeys-esque. But better. Includes "Mobile Communication," the best cell-phone-related love song ever written." - Esquire

"The Beatific Visions is a huge step forward for Brakes, which may seem surprising since the first album was so damned good. - Treblezine

"With swirling Weezer-esque guitar loops, silo-sized reverberations and big-hearted clichés, Beatific Visions is as American as apple pie, as Southern as Faulkner." - Paper Thin Walls
