About Me

The Wooden Spoons introduce a fresh, contemporary, yet almost traditional approach ofsong-writing and arrangements, placing themselves a step forward from the currentsuffocated market of the indie post-punk culture. These young, mischievous spoonsstrive into the mist of epic sea shanty sing-a-longs, jaunty piano pop, sublimeAmericana as well as full-blown rock and roll, North East of England style. Comprising of twin brothers Dan and Graeme as well as fellow musicians Rich andJoshua, their full band set up generally includes piano, drums, percussion andguitars; therefore offering them more than enough tools to keep their ultra-smart poputterly varied and unique.
Strident, grand and ceaselessly melodic, their latest offering ‘Slow Down’ delvesinto new territories for the band, highlighting their creativity and bold use ofinstrumentation, whilst still retaining the magical awe created from their debutmini-album ‘The Blackbird and the Paper Moon.’ From the explosive introduction of thefirst track, ‘Sick and Tired’, to the ruthless sweeping guitars of ‘Life Support,’ itis clear that the Spoons have created an EP with plenty of those small, deliciousbites that remain in your head long after the lights have gone down.

''This is a fantastic album, it's so far removed from the current trends, yet still has an innovation all of its own, and I've completely fallen in love with it.''
NARC Magazine

"When the guitar speaks up, it highlights the impressive craft and thought that has gone into the arrangements."
Leeds Music Scene

''The standout performance came from The Wooden Spoons - a young band with bags of energy and an obvious desire to be different. The band's songs had massive variety - ranging from unashamedly jolly piano pop, to bluesy slide guitar riffs, to an unexpected sea shanty. They are slightly eccentric, and they seem destined for bigger things.''
