The Eye Jab

I bored your pants off, but at least they're off.

About Me

"An atmospheric and melodic piano driven multi-limbed beast, conjuring up a hybrid of The Arcade Fire, The Longcut and The Smiths"
Paul Reed, The Gen "Some bands create an atmosphere far greater than the gig itself, and this syncopated wave was breaking well across the other side of the Ouseburn. Stage presence is all very well, but stage ’comfort’ is very rare; the guys are totally at ease with what they do and they don’t need to pander to the audience. If listeners love Dav Ford-alike soundscapes as much as the progenitors, everybody wins, if they don’t, well, who is really losing out here"
Carla Washbourne, NARC "Like Arcade Fire, The Eye Jabs many members are constantly jostling for the limelight. Or at least they used to be until the Hexham based outfit recently scaled down from a highfalutin nine-piece to a more conventional quintet. The anything-goes, multi-tasking mentality of the Canadian supergroup remains however. Producing pop on a grand scale, the band milk drama from their small-town dissatisfaction, and deliver soaring odes to lost-love that often outrun the five-minute mark. On the organ-led 40mph were taken on a journey that sees cynicism offset with a smirking relish for human absurdity - a joy ride for those who don’t mind celebrating a broken heart. Meanwhile, Late Night Brawl moulds the band’s offbeat eccentricities and youthful ennui into redemptive balladry, and on The Smiths-like jangle of The Lake odd piano flourishes and epic guitar runs strengthen The Eye Jab’s knack of being able to pack a million ideas into every song without sounding bloated."
Andrew Fenwick, The Metro "The Eye jab however had alot more purpose about them, and constructed a pretty epic sound upon the foundations of some nice bass work. They seem to inspire (the nowadays obligatory) Arcade Fire comparisons, but i found they had more in common with the smashing pumpkins in the nimbleness of the drumming, and their way with dramatic melodies. Keyboards thicken out the sound to treacle-like proportions, and each song bobs and weaves down unexpected waters. I’ll be looking out for this group again."
Conor McArdle, NARC
