The Disgustingtons

it starts like any other punk rock venture (or like a blue brothers flick). "let's get the band back together". sort of. they used to be The Subjects and played together for years touring, playing constantly, and drinking all the other bands beer back stage. having some great shows and talking about opening for the Street Dogs (they did, the subjects blew the doors off the venue that night). this lead to stories and rumors that this band was going to spearhead a truly pure punk revival. a shaved head, blazing street sound to be baptised by. stand up and take notice. so they did what any other band in their position would do... break up.okay, really... day jobs, careers, wives and famillies were the real reason. a sign that these guys took care of what was more important to them first. don't fault them on that. it would make you look stupid.but a couple of years had passed and lives were stable, mortgages had been paid on time, and these guys were getting hungry to start playing music again. it starts with Dan calling Jason (a later replacement to the subjects and guitar savant) and asking if he wanted to start up a new band. nothing serious. just play a couple of shows a month and start to shake off the cobwebs. then of course comes the tideous task of finding a drummer. not easy in the land of guitar posteuring that is LA. so they just called upon Lou again. easilly the most rocksteady and trustworthy guy to have behind the kit in any band. he still makes it to practice all the from long beach on time (ok, sometimes he's ten minutes late. but still, all the way from long beach). vocals, they can make or break the band. and just about every guy they tried out was a break. didn't any of the singers in this town trying to be in a punk band ever hear of a melody? singing notes? not screaming into a mic at ear peircing pitch and trying to do your best Rights of Spring impersonation at the same time? guess not. Nate, you want to sing for us again? damn straight.so great. now all the subjects are back together and not at all wanting to sound like the subjects. this was supposed to be a new band. and with a new band there should be a new additude, new songs, a new style of song writing, a new perspective and new blood. so Dan, once again the author of this entire construct brings in his DJ partner kirk on rythym guitar and tells everyone to start coming up for a new name for this new band.and then their friend chris, really drunk at the local bar, one night says to call the band The Disgustingtons. sure. why not?
