About Me

Plain MySpace Layouts by Iron Spider
Barbwire was a New York City band formed in 1991 by Sal Forcina, Mike Gallino, John Heffernan and John Ducroiset. The band was put together by Forcina and Gallino after their previous band, "The Hunger" (1987-1990) broke up in late 1990. After numerous tryouts for bass players, the band was very fortunate to find Heffernan and have him join the band. Ducroiset was the last addition to the band. His guitar prowess help define the band's sound.
The band's style varied from Gallino's thunderous drum sound to Heffernan's punk rock roots to Ducroiset's dynamic guitar style to Forcina's power vocals and heavy guitar riffs.
Ducroiset's brother Jimmy, replaced Gallino in 1992. The band played their brand of Hard Rock throughout the NYC and Long Island club scene until their break up in the Fall of 1993.
Gallino moved on to a career as one of NY's Bravest at the FDNY. Heffernan continued playing and joined the band "Concrete Jungle", where he met lead singer Joey Lanz. They later formed the great NYC punk band "The Bullys". Heffernan would also become one of NY's Bravest at the FDNY. Tragically, John Heffernan died on September 11th 2001 in the line of duty. He was a great band mate and friend. He definitely left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
