I am a painter and illustrator. I take my ideas and tweak them so long until I forge them to become my signature. My art is influenced by political issues (see my artist statement) transformed into fantasy settings to create metaphors with narratives. I am influenced by moving pictures and literature such as Metropolis (created by a fellow Austrian - Fritz Lang), The City of the Lost Children, Brazil and 1984. If you want to put my style in a box, then I most likely belong to the "lowbrow" movement, derived from pop surrealism. The old masters that I admire most are Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Friedrich, Klimt, Schiele, Dali, Magritte and many more. Amongst the contemporary artists I look at work from Robert Williams, Todd Schorr, Camille Rose Garcia, Chet Zar, H.R. Giger, Michael Hussar and Don Lagerberg ;). I pull ideas from old movies, 1900's laboratories, burlesque, latex and tattoo art as well as classic cartoons and pin up art. Most of my art is executed in oil on canvas or board except of a few that are done in charcoal and pastel.Drop me a line if you have more questions.
