Leukaemia is a cancer that affects the bone marrow,where blood cells are made. Leukaemia can develop in anyone,of any age,at any time.
In 2006,approximately 2,869 Australians were diagnosed with leukaemia the equivalent of 8 people a day. Approximately 1,363 Australians will die of leukaemia every year the equivalent of almost 4 people a day.In 2010, it is projected there will be 3138 Australians diagnosed with leukaemia each year (an increase of 21.5% since 2002)
