About Me

Emmi Knuutinen is 27-years old musician who has been playing folk music over 20 years. Her main instruments are kantele and voice and she has worked as a kantele teacher at the various music/adult institutes and Sibelius Academy Folk Music Department.Knuutinen's biggest passion are improvisation and balkan music. She has composed music to documentary films and is involved many groups combining various arts.One of them is ”Bridged art exhibition” together with visually impaired artist Maarit Hedman (www.maarithedman.com). Meaning of the project is to make possible for handicapped and special groups to attain art by other senses. In March 2007 Knuutinen performed musical interpretation of Hedman's paintings at Lasipalatsi Gallery in Helsinki.
