Anu Alviola is a kantele player from Helsinki. She was born in Lahti and started playing kantele at Lahti Conservatory in 1991. She studied mostly classic – and chamber music in conservatory, but became inspired of folk music because of her long-term hobby – folk dancing. In 2003 she was admitted to the Sibelius Academy Folk Music Department to study folk music. She graduated Bachelor of Music in the spring 2006. Now she is continuing with her Master of Music studies and teaching kantele playing and doing career as musician by herself and with her band – Blatentsaine. Blatentsaine is a folk music band, which was named the Kantele Ensemble of the Year by the Finnish Kantele Association. In summer 2007, she is working as a Kantele Association's Summer Musician.___________________________________________________
