How the story began
Il progetto Shotgun Babies nasce nella primavera del 2006. Le due sorelle Elena (batteria) e Cristina (voce e chitarra, ex cantante dei Nahema), maturano l'idea della formazione di una band composta prevalentemente da donne, ma ben presto si rivela essere un' utopia. Prende forma una prima line-up che vede Gianluigi (già membro dei Black Rose) al basso.
Qualche mese più tardi, Elena abbandona il progetto. Le sonorità graffianti ed energiche, rabbiose e smielate, che caratterizzano gli Shotgun Babies necessitano di una presenza dirompente e creativa alla batteria: come un fulmine riappare nelle loro vite Marco, geniale polistrumentista, già batterista dei Meatfield.
Nell'ottobre del 2007, si inserisce nella band Tony, compagno di Marco e Gianluigi già nei loro progetti degli anni '90 (Oversize), nonché ex chitarrista dei Meatfield.
Nello stesso periodo girano il loro primo videoclip, "Paralyze", realizzato dal regista Andrea Federico e la sua Out Cinema. Ma la ballata in questione, benchè apprezzata e trasmessa nel corso del tempo più volte in programmi radiofonici (Radio Studio Smile, Radio Manbassa) risulta poco rappresentativa dell'aggressività del loro sound e della voce.
A fine anno Gianluigi abbandona il gruppo, aprendo la strada a Gianna, bassista versatile, le cui numerose esperienze spaziano dal rock al jazz, dal punk all'elettronica.
L'idea originaria di una formazione prevalentemente femminile si apre verso una composizione "mista", che, attraverso modi di sentire differenti, possa approdare ad un turbine di energia e trascinanti melodie, senza escludere nessuna forma di sperimentazione.
Nel giugno 2008 gli Shotgun realizzano il loro primo promo, "Destroy Your Beauty", inaspettatamente apprezzato sul web dal pubblico americano...
Nell'autunno dello stesso anno sono i vincitori del concorso Rock Bad Girlz per il mese di settembre.
Shotgun Babies project is born in spring 2006. Two sisters, Elena (drums) and Cristina (guitars and vocals, ex singer of Nahema), decide to create an all girl band, but this idea seems to be an utopia. A first line-up takes its form with Gianluigi (already member of Black Rose), as a bassist.
Some months later, Elena leaves the band. The scratching and energetic sound, full of honey and of rage, needs a shattering presence on drums: as a lightning Marco, who plays a lot of instruments, already drummer of Meatfield, comes back into their lives.
In october 2007 Tony, already active with Marco and Gianluigi in their 90s projects (Oversize) and ex guitarist of Meatfield, adds to the band.
During that period they performe the first videoclip, "Paralyze", realized by Andrea Federico and his Out Cinema. Even if this ballad has been appreciated and transmitted by radio several times (Radio Studio Smile, Radio Manbassa), it doesn't seem to express the anger of sounds and voice.
At the end of the year Gianluigi leaves the band and Gianna takes his place. She's a versatile bassist, whose experiences goes from punk to electronic music.
The original idea of an all girl band takes place to a compound line-up, that, through different experiences and ways of feeling, could get a vortex of energy and involving melodies, not excluding any kind of experimentation.
In June 2008 Shotgun Babies realize their first promo, suddenly appreciated on web by american users...
In autumn of the same year they win Rock Bad Girlz contest
