Please support the foot soldier! - Understand that the kid with a gun in his hand and an American flag sewn on his sleeve is not the enemy - we are, once again exploiting our youth for the agendas of Emperor(s) Bush and this fucked-up, confused nation. The soldier has no choices in the war he is sent to fight, his is but to do or die.
Sounds Like: Hell on Earth.
Some of Steve's (Runetreskjaerer) gear, crafts and artwork. He creates
his own leatherwork, carvings, runeworkings, pagan ritual tools, battlewear, costume design and illustrations. He collects Celtic and Viking blades, metalwork, jewelry, accoutrements, etc. along the way. He also is a practicing Vitki (German Shaman) and Gothi (Norwegian Shaman) and has been studying Celtic and Viking pagan sprituality, ritual, divination, history and mythology for nearly 15 years.
He is an adherent of the "Islenka Asatruar Felagid" - the Icelandic Fellowship of Aesir Faith (recognized officially as a religion in Iceland, Denmark and Norway, founded by Sveinbjorn Beinteinsson during Summer Solstice, 1972) More commonly known in the US as "Asatru" - The Viking Faith - is more widely recognized all the time.
"I did not find it, I sought and sought and sought, and it found me - HAILS Odin.
Valknut, Bifrost and Ravenstaf
Ravenstaf is a work in progress. It is a 5' staff carved with a Raven/Crow emblem at the top, then three interlocking ribbons that circumnavigate the entire shaft of the staff. I composed a runic poem, translated it into Elder Futhark, and am now in the process of enscribing it into the ribbons, 865 characters, all by hand.
(Excerpt)
"I am of Odin and Freja upon Yggdrasil
I wear the Valknut of Urder, Verhanndi, Skuld
I am the Vitki, Sowilo Othala Tiwaz Ur Duir Duir Runetreskjaerer
"Ragnarok" by Johannes Gehrts
Lord, bring me to your blessed and brave Einherjeren, fine army of the dead, called to succeed and rage at Ragnarok! - Hails, great Thor - May thine hammer swing mightily into eternity!
"Odin" and "Thor" by Froelich-Lundbye-Skovgaard
Lady Freja, bring thine beautiful abundance unto Midgard - Trees tall and fair, groves formed in Gods' repair, gardens brimming with glorious faire - golden mead, crystal air!
Valkryies, Valkyries, Valkyries! Ride fine maidens! Warriors fall unto the ground, Odin's priestess' settle, wings down, blood of youth, coins on eyes, Valhalla's gates, Mothers' cries.
"Valkyries" by Johannes Gehrts
Sitting with my Lord, Oaken table, warrior's horde
Horns are gleefully raised, the brothers roar
Dragon ships sail forever more
Viking drifts in gravely shallows, drifting out to Neptune's hallows
Fire burns Oak and Man in Our Ways, with Manawyddan and the Sea!!!"
Right Arm Tat - I personally concepted and drew all nine that I've had done. Most while I was in the Army - Light Infantry at Fort Ord, CA. The first tattoo I got was at Lyle Tuttle's shop on Market Street in San Francisco in '89 - I had just finished in the top 5% of my graduating Light Infantry training company at Fort Benning. I drew a design of a classic army tat - something you would see in an old movie - a helmeted skull with crossed infantry bayonets and two wrapping scrolls placed top and bottom that read: "US ARMY" and "INFANTRY" Hoorahhhh, Motherfuckers!
In December of 1989 I dropped out of the sky above Panama in a C5-A Galaxy, busily loading magazines of 7.62 ammunition. My Brigade of the 7th Light Infantry Division was descending to wreak havoc and change the course of a "police action". - I can't even begin to describe the feeling of driving off the tail of the jet in my Hummer with Brigade Commander Colonel Linwood E. Burney (a veteran of Hamburger Hill in Viet Nam, Silver Star, Purple Heart) into flames, confusion and gunfire - Magnificent!!! I earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Air Assault wings, Army Commendation Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Expeditionary Service Medal, National Service Medal, among others during my 5-year active and reserve military career. I left the service, thanks to my Colonel, who was a true friend and brother in arms - he signed my release papers during the infant stages of the first Gulf War. I returned to SF in '91 and chose to reinstate my oath and join the 71st Training Division at the Presidio of San Francisco, where I helped train Drill Sergeants in Petaluma during the summer - raid those bastards in the bush - what a kick!!!
