Steve Wheeler, a native of Jacksonville, Fl is also a guitarist/ songwriter/producer/singer. About performing publicly, Steve says, " My first gig was at a school talent show in the 6th grade. I played in many local bands through out the 1970's. After auditioning for Foghat in 1980, I was invited to play on a solo effort from Epic Records titled Danny Joe Brown-DJBB. The album was recorded March 1981 at Compass Point, Nassau, Bahamas the record was produced by legendary Glyn Johns. Johns' credits among countless others include The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Eagles. (Danny Joe Brown, deceased as of 2006, was the lead singer of The Original Molly Hatchet.) CBS released the video of my song from Danny Joe Brown and the Danny Joe Brown Band effort titled “Nobody Walks on Me†for MTV play in 1981. (The album was re-released in 2004 by Sony Music Custom Marketing Group.) That was my first published work as a writer, and performer. For the past three decades I have been playing, writing, producing and recording. While playing in local bands in the early 1990’s, I gave a couple of slide guitar lessons to a young Derek Trucks at his parent’s home, he was a very quick study! I am blown away by his and his wife's contributions to the world of music and applaud their successes! I count it an honor to have been a small part of his past. I have had the pleasure of working with outstanding musicians in my career. Many of which are shown below in the slide show. Life happened along the way. I am married to my soul mate, have two wonderful adult children, a remarkable son-in-law, and three awesome grandchildren, and a delightful daughter-in-law.
