Ping was founded in Bergen, winter 1999 by Mattis Janitz and Jørgen Greiner. The music was at that time made on their Amiga 1200 and a 4-track recorder, in a tiny bedroom. The band now operates in Oslo, has risen to the healthy amount of five members and spend merry days in their more up-to-date studio.
Ping's debut album, "It's a picnic" was released in 2000. The process of arranging and recording is unorthodox, where humour and spontaneity is highly appreciated; creative use of various instruments and vocal arrangements flow through a number of genres. The credo is not to hesitate, immediateness leads to perfection, nothing is perfect.
Kilowatt Film made a splendid video for the track "...and is that it?" from "It's a Picnic", directed by Gaute Hesthagen.
Ping later composed music for his reknowned short film Love Game.
2004 saw Ping test their talent with No Life Orchestra. The result was a split-Ep released on Luftwaffel Records.
Late 2005 German label QDK-Media/Normal Records released «The Castle Massacre», which is currently available throughout Europe, USA & Japan.
In 2007 drummer Alexander Lindbäck left Ping to fully concentrate on his country-rock project Seven Doors Hotel, Ping then joined forces with Officer Downs drummer Claes Terjesen.
Ping are now in the final stages of recording and mixing their upcoming album
"Discotheque Of Darkness".
