“We’re happy now. For realâ€, Espen states, and you have to believe him when you see the way he looks over at drummer Filip. For a while it looked really bleak, though - the strain of recording new, hip material for their overly demanding fan base threatened to break up the band all together - for half a week, the two members didn’t talk to each other, and fans all over the world were chewing their fingernails off. "It was strainious to both our lives", the two say, almost as one voice.
But now, Indiegnation has entered their most harmonic and productive phase thus far.
“The music’s all that matters, reallyâ€, Filip says. “Nice melodies, out of tune guitars, squeaky voices - the works.†Espen agrees, and continues: “The people deserves something more than all the deadly boring rock bands that dominate the Oslo scene and sucks the will to live right out of people.†“And Indiegnation is the only antidoteâ€, Filip concludes and proceed to pour delicious imported tri-blend coffee to both the band, and this reporter.
The boys have spent two years in rehearsal, cultivating their own unique brand of indie mixed with rock, folk and pop. It’s like nothing you ever heard before - cute melodies, lyrics of lost love, pure indie energy and DIY spirit to the max. And the best has yet to come, according to the happy duo.
“Our next album is going to be so indie it hurtsâ€, they exclaim, before we all join in a big, fantabolous group hug.
