Band Members: for those who may be interrested : I spent the last year foremost in Munich/Germany working with my old friend/composer Gerd Baumann. We did some film scores-the main project was the music for the upcoming Marcus Rosenmueller ("Wer frueher stirbt ist laenger tot")film 'Raeuber Kneissl" which will be released in October 08.You find the 'overture' in my player in advance, to get a taste. We did almost 80 minutes of - I think - amazing music, which was composed by Gerd, orchestrated by Wolfgang Roth, recorded, mixed and mastered by myself. The special sound is created by an odd ensemble consisting just of celli, double basses, trombones and french horns, mixed with a tasty load of Gerd's special guitar textures, and a bit of weird blues harp stuff....and a few jm-tricks..
Another exciting project, which I'm very proud of having the chance to contribute a bit, took me back to Vienna to work with my friend the unique composer and extraordinary guitar player Conrad Schrenk on the upcoming "Romanes" album, which will be released in September.
I also worked on albums and soundtracks with: Bananafishbones, Unsere Lieblinge, Trio Elf and Ania Jools, which are just released, or soon to be released. And I am working close together with Barbara Ostertag and Wolfgang Gleixner for an upcoming project of spiritual music, which will be due in fall/winter. In September I'll be doing the next project with Gerd, which will be the music for the upcoming M.Rosenmueller film "Die Perlmutterfarbe"
Influences: Starting out in the 70's I grew up listening to Jazz Rock, Progressive Rock and some Heavy Metal, later on I discovered Jazz(whatever this term means these days)and contemporary classical music.
Basically, I like many different styles of music, as long as it's interesting, progressive, exciting and well performed.
Some of my favorites:Alex Machacek,Sumitra,Conrad Schrenk,Shakti,John McLaughlin,Joni Mitchell,Frank Zappa,Stravinsky,Bartok,Radiohead,Messiaen,Jaco Pastorius,Jeff Beck,Charles Mingus,Miles Davis,Pat Metheny,Zakir Hussain, Shankar, Classical Indian Music,Squarepusher,Weather Report,Return to Forever,Pink Floyd,Genesis,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple,Van Halen,Steve Morse&Dixie Dregs,Motorhead(Long live Rock'n'Roll),MeshellNdegeocello,Radiohead,Live,Daniel Lanois,U2,Peter Gabriel,Bill Frisell,Mike Stern,.....
Concerning my own work,I try to capture as much as possible of what's going on musically in the room, and add my style to the musicians visions, or simply try to help them bring out the most of their inner worlds, and transfer these dreams in an authentic way to the listeners......
Sounds Like: well, hopefully no one else........
