The Troops Out Now Coalition (TONC) is a national grassroots coalition calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the world where U.S. imperialism is running rampant. Any doubts that this senseless quagmire was motivated by a corporate agenda -- oil profits -- was erased when oil companies and Washington thinktanks wrote Iraq's oil law now being reviewed by Iraq's parliament. It calls for pushing aside Iraq's existing state-run oil board and creating a new one. Sitting on this new oil board would be executives from ExxonMobil, Texaco, Shell and BP. Iraq's constitution was already rewritten so that between 60 and 80% of the country's undeveloped oil fields would be open to foreign oil companies.In their quest to reap huge profits from Iraq’s immense oil reserves, these oil companies have turned Iraq into a death trap for both Iraqis and U.S. soldiers. They have also drained the public treasury, taking already-scarce funds for schools, medicine, flood control and other human needs, and spending it on war. This makes the broad mass of people in the U.S. and Iraq automatic allies. That goes for Palestine, Afghanistan and Somlia too--anywhere the people an occupation.
