Exit 86 began to take form when singer/songwriter/guitarist David Morgan reunited with bassist Brian Zell after almost 2 years apart. Together they had only worked on one song. That song happened to be "Little Shell" which was the most highly reviewed and requested song on the "La Conchita Remember" Compilation album, a memorial album for the La Conchita disaster. Within two weeks, with featured guests, Dave had written, rehearsed, and recorded Little Shell. Radio play and rave reviews soon followed. Thanks to Little Shell, the memorial album raised over $100,000 in proceeds. Santa Barbara rock station 99.9 KTYD made the call to use Little Shell to open their star-studded benefit which included performances by Collective Soul, Michael Mcdonald, Kenny Loggins and Jim Massina.Their drummer, Ryan Bodycombe joined up, proving his rightful seat on the throne amidst enormous competition. His talent and youth have made him known as a prodigy of percussion.
