Exit 86 began to take form when singer/songwriter/guitarist David Morgan reunited with bassist Brian Zell after almost 2 years apart. Together they had only worked on one song. That song happened to be "Little Shell" which was the most highly reviewed and requested song on the "La Conchita Remember" Compilation album, a memorial album for the La Conchita disaster. Within two weeks, with featured guests, Dave had written, rehearsed, and recorded Little Shell. Radio play and rave reviews soon followed. Thanks to Little Shell, the memorial album raised over $100,000 in proceeds. Santa Barbara rock station 99.9 KTYD made the call to use Little Shell to open their star-studded benefit which included performances by Collective Soul, Michael Mcdonald, Kenny Loggins and Jim Massina.Their drummer, Ryan Bodycombe joined up, proving his rightful seat on the throne amidst enormous competition. His talent and youth have made him known as a prodigy of percussion. After just one practice, he sounded as if he had been born into the band with a pair of sticks in his hands. The vision of this project is to succeed by being the most driven, educated, 100% devoted professional team possible, and to generate music that people love; music that connects people from all ethnic backgrounds and generations by shedding light on life's funny little monotonous daily grind.
No matter if you feel like laughing, crying, screaming, or just tearing the town up, Exit 86 is always here. May your life be Irie. And now in just over a year exit 86 has performed for thousands all over California. Sharing the stage with acts like Wild Peach (Outkast's band), Afroman, Eek a mouse, emilbus (former member of the ska daddys, and twenty year legends the Upbeat. Always turning diverse crowds into fans with e86's multi-genre attack.Exit 86 interview
