OOut of Durham, NC comes Luego, one of the Triangle's most promising and experienced indie-rock acts. Trimming down to a two-piece set for the road, guitarist, singer and songwriter Patrick Phelan teams up with seasoned drummer Chris DiMarco, they feature a driving and pleasantly erratic rock and roll, folk, country and pop-influenced style.
With the completion of a critically acclaimed EP, I Know, I Know, a half-year behind them, Luego's catalogue has expanded considerably, both in substance and in subject matter. Phelan's lip-curling electric guitar play, distinctive vocals and sharp pop hooks seem to float just above DiMarco's drum-line influenced beats. Indeed, the The Village Idiot, one of the nation's premiere local alternative papers, describes Luego, as a "... promising young indie-rock act… [who] have produced a very good and easy listening sound that is a cross between pop, folk and a bit of classical. There's a cool balance of instruments and some jazz that gives them their unique sound."
Luego promises to bring something primal back into the indie-rock experience, reflected in their energetic, head-bobbing live performances that evince the emotions of Phelan's honest, personal songwriting.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: luegomusic.com
Band Members: Band
Patrick plays the guitars, pianos and sings
Chris plays the drums
Jason produces and plays the P Bass

There is no management.
Influences: people who know things, texas, the beatles, rock and roll, coffee, the godfather, babbitt, the outdoors, early in the morning, north carolina, the road, time away, those who came before us
Sounds Like: "they're busy now backing frontman Patrick Phelan's passionate lyrics about driftwood orchestras. He's got a quirky inflection and a hint of swagger to pit against the band's largely sunny jangle."
-Independent weekly (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC) - July 2007

"Luego is a new one to watch in Durham. Part of the band's smarts lies in its balance between warm, folksy Dylan-esque rock-economics and the solid build of weepy symphony strings."
-Independent weekly (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC) - October 2007

"'I Need Some' is one of the band’s favorite songs to perform because of its ability to make the crowd shake some ass but also because, as Phelan puts it, 'It rocks pretty hard.'"
-Encore Magazine (Wilmington, NC) - November 2007

"Luego's got the trappings of a crisp pop band, focusing on the songs and structures at a time when shoddy songwriting in indie rock gets cloacked too often in gestures and ornaments."
-Independent Weekly (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC) - January 2008
"“Get Under You” could be Radiohead playing for tips in a jazz lounge."
-Metro Spirit (Augusta, GA) - January 2008

"The promising young indie-rock acts have produced a very good and easy listening sound that is a cross between pop, folk and a bit of classical. There's a cool balance of instruments and some jazz that gives them their unique sound.
