I became interested in putting fun back into politics after meeting Screaming Lord Sutch in 1986. I was taught the art of standing in elections by the great master himself Screaming Lord Sutch and on how to high-light the ridiculous policies that those mad men in the House of Commotions impose on the British public, I embarked on a career in politics.
At the 1992 general election I went to join the circus with all the rest of the clowns in the constituency of Colne-Valley, I polled 160 votes. As the circus got bigger and more clowns joined, I decided to return and stand in Colne-Valley in the 1997 general election against cash for question’s Tory MP, Graham Ridiculous, I polled 192 votes.
In 1999 I became the Deputy Leader of the Monster Raving Loony Party and pulled the party back from the brink of extinction. In 2001 I went to stand against Wild Willy Haigh (William Haigh Tory MP) in Richmond, North Yorkshire, foot and mouth was just gripping the country and the election was moved to June the 7th. I polled an amazing 561 votes.
By 2005 The Labour party had been in power for ten years and was generally making a pigs ear of running the country, so I went to stand against the Tony –One (Tony Blair) in Sedgefield, North East. I teamed up with an old and dear friend Wild Willie Beckett, from the Psycho Surgeon’s band. I polled 158 votes.
I have stood in 25 local elections and 4 general elections over the last 20 years. Recently I have resigned from the OMRLP.Take a look at my website www.boney-maroney.co.uk for a bit more history.
