Darkbackward

Dayton, Ohio’s DarkBackward, a.k.a. The DarkBackward Adult Cinema Orchestra, could best be described as an Industrial, Art- Alternative Collective. Since their formation in the early stages of the 21st century, their lineup, output and general mission statement has been as amorphous and hard-to-peg as the 1991 cult film after which they were named.Core members Maximian Nye, Eric Purtle, Don Habil, Chris Corn and Roger Owlsly are all seminal Dayton figures in their own right. They have conceived their nebulous strains of twisted reality in Max’s studio, humbly known as The Rape Factory ( The Bunker, to those who are easily offended). Their peripheral collaborations over the years are an exceptional portrait of Dayton’s music history with everyone’s collective resume reading like the Who’s Who of this towns most affluenent bands, past and present.... Dementia Precox, Luxury Pushers, Mondolux, My Latex Brain, Xtreme-Unction, Minus One, Poetic Justice, Scream Bloody Murder and many more. Although the personnel and texture has varied over the course of their three self-released products, the overall concept rarely changes. DarkBackward’s long alliance with tours-de-force adult film director Guy Capo, has led to all of their releases being used, in whole or part, in many of Capo’s award winning exposes’, in the adult film industry. The release in 2005 of Capo’s “ Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll” brought DarkBackward an Adult Video News Award Nomination ( a.k.a.“The AVN Woody”) for best soundtrack and was the debut of the acting talents of Max Nye in his first film role. Proclaiming themselves a studio band, DarkBackward has done an occasional rare live show, but don’t look for them at your local club, look for these guys in your local adult theater.
