BIOGRAPHY Eric L. Lewis, a New Jersey native, started spinning records at the age of 14 and quickly gained notoriety as a Hip Hop mobile DJ, as member of the Club New Productions crew.
This multi-talented artist, emerged on the nightclub scene as music engineer and light man at famed Jersey hot spot, Club America, alongside, DJ Kerri “KAOZ 6:23†Chandler, the upcoming production wizard of the deep house sound. Eric made a smooth transition to the wheels of steel at this prominent NJ nightclub, spinning soulful house sets with legendary DJ, the late Larry Patterson.
During his 2 year DJ residency at Club America, Eric displayed his audio and technical skill with the release of his first test pressing "Subway Sound†earning the nickname “Levan†since his eclectic musical style of blending vocals and beats reminded Patterson of the late great Larry Levan, one of the pioneers of the evolution of Dance Music.
Eric “Levan†Lewis is highly respected by his peers within the music industry for his radio broadcasting expertise and the contributions that he has made in the development of dance music on college radio. As music program director at Rutgers University, he established the first dance mix show on WRLC 1140AM and hosted live radio college events featuring noted performers and DJ’s including, New York's Hot 97 Fm, mix wizard, Funk Master Flex.
During his 6 yr tenure at Rutgers’s, Eric rocked the WRLC 1140 AM and WRSU 88.5 FM airwaves broadcasting through the tri-state area with his weekly “Planet X†dance mix parties.
In the early 90’s, Eric could be heard slamming the turntables at various NJ underground spots including the Down Under, Big Daddy’s and the Roxy, College Club. By the mid 90’s, this versatile DJ, was famous for spinning progressive tribal house and old school sets with his special guest appearances at various NYC venues including, the scandalous Webster Hall, the infamous go-go lounge Mantra, Club NV and the infamous “One Love†parties at club Down Time to name a few.
In 2003, Eric rocked the big apple with his explosive dance sets in the heart of the village at the Ja Lounge, for renowned resident DJ/Owner, Jon Ferrari and Subsonic rhythms productions.
Upon relocating to Florida, his high-energy guest dance sets could be heard at the hippest underground venues including the ultra posh Blue Martini Lounge in Orlando, the funky Buddha Lounge in Winter Park, Socca Ultra Lounge in Winter park and Orlando’s, Screamers.
Proud partner of Orlando based entertainment group, SOUL ELEVATION MUSIC LLC, this ASCAP and BMI member is rapidly gaining recognition for his production work. Credited in 2007 for producing and remixing the soulful up-tempo indie “Don't You Worry PT2†featuring the brown bomb-shell songstress, Vicky Martin released on the “Godfather of House†Marshall Jefferson’s USB Records label, which has regular rotation on various underground internet radio, shows including SS Radio and Cyberjamz.com.
During the WMC 2008 festivities, SOUL ELEVATION MUSIC LLC, will be promoting the release of their soulful house track “Cheatin Man†inspired by the, Atlanta based R&B singer, Anthony David.
