About Me

Donni Araújo is a Brazilian musician, singer and songwriter who’s career began during his pre-teen age when, in the mid 70’s, he joined the support band for his senior brother, Brazilian singer and songwriter Odair Jose. Despite his young age, Donni started to write songs back in those days. Some became number 1 in the Brazilian and South American hit charts – most of them on his brother’s own voice, while others were performed by some of the most important contemporary artists in the Brazilian musical scene. Donni Araújo himself recorded some albums while playing with bands such as Grupo Pilula and Banana Split, among others. He sometimes worked as a producer or an assistant producer for record companies such as the extinct RCA Victor of Brazil, CBS of Brazil (nowadays Sony Music of Brazil) and Continental, the biggest of all Brazilian record companies. He also performed those functions in several independent works. His musical formation includes classical training, which started with the accordion when he was only seven years old. Later, he would expand his studies with the addition of the guitar, bass guitar and piano. Donni grew up in the heart of the Brazilian musical scene and, because of that, he always had the opportunity of being with the people who really made history. That is a plus when the subject changes to popular music. During all these years he had classes and workshops with some of the legendary Brazilian musicians, such as pianist Antonio Adolfo, to mention just one name, who gave Donni his beginning piano lessons. However, according to Araújo, the most important for him was having the opportunity to perform alongside those amazing artists. “Those were and are the real lessons,” he confesses. Returning to the classics, he recently undertook extensive studies in classical piano, guitar and voice at the Escola de Música (Music School) in the Universidade Federal de Goiás (The Federal University at the State of Goiás). Donni Araujo currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, and his most recent work is the independent solo album titled “A vida é bela” (“Life Is Beautiful”), which was recorded in Brazil just before his coming to the United States.
