The value of live theatre is immeasurable. VetStage offers self-growth and education to all of its audiences. But that could be said about all theatre companies. What makes VetStage unique is its subject matter and the benefit that it will have for its participants. VetStage presents one of the best opportunities for our nation’s veterans to define their experience and how it is perceived by the public. In addition to that, it provides a positive, creative outlet for veterans to process their personal experience, enable them to make an artistic contribution to society and ease the transition back into civilian life. Our classes for veterans are focused on building self-confidence through playwriting, acting workshops and performance. Our performances are always a new experience for audiences whether it is a new rendition of classic war and homecoming plays, or new works developed by VetStage. We try to relate as performers to our contemporary audience and offer new insights on our society from the veterans’ perspective.

My Interests

VetStage company members are made up entirely of veterans and prior military. Some are still active members of the reserve forces. In order to be a company member, one MUST have prior military experience. Acting, writing, heck any type of creative experience is a plus, but NOT a requirement. Through workshops, classes, labs, etc., company members can develop their inner artist, or volunteer in other ways. If you are interested in joining VETStage go to our website, http://vetstage.org/index.htm or send an e-mail to us via myspace telling us of your interest.

I'd like to meet:

Veterans of all branches, supporters of veterans, actors, actresses, writers, producers, heck any one who believes that Support the Troops is more than a bumper sticker.

Movies:

Very excited about Paul Haggis' new film, In the Valley of Elah that will be in theatres on September 21, 2007. Five VetStage members were involved in the making of this film. Wes Chatham has a big supporting role in it as Sergeant Penning, Sean Huze plays Captain Jim Osher, Hans Steckly does voice-over, and Brian Seuffert and Holly Grice were part of the looping crew. Congrats to everyone!
