Gabriel Improta is a Brazilian acoustic and electric guitar player. An accomplished arranger and composer, Improta has played and recorded with established musicians such as Hermeto Paschoal, João Donato, Paulo Moura, Robertinho Silva, Francis Hime, Jacques Morelembaum, and Elza Soares. Improta's first solo CD - É o Violão do Brasil – features some of the most relevant Brazilian performers and was directed by Marco Pereira. Now he's finishing his second CD, with his own tunes besides some by other Brazilian guitar players.Gabriel Improta has performed extensively all over Brazil and abroad in the States, Europe and Central America, such as in the Havana's International Festival of Guitar, directed by Leo Brouwer and in Lisbon, on a TV show for RTP, with the Portuguese singer Marisa together with Jacques and Paula Morelembaum.Improta also arranges and produces the group Garrafieira, which, in 2005, won Brazil's most important music prize, Prêmio TIM , in the category of 'best Brazilian group'.Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro to a family of musicians, Improta studied guitar and improvisation at GIT, Musicians Institute, in Los Angeles, USA with the guitar player Scott Henderson (2002/2003). In 2007 he obtained an MA in music composition from the Federal University UNIRIO (2007).In his concerts, he usually plays the best of Jazz and Brazilian music for guitar besides his own pieces, which in his fingers might attain an innovative Jazz bent. Gabriel tocou e gravou com grandes artistas da MPB, no Brasil e no exterior, como Hermeto Paschoal, Paulo Moura, João Donato, Francis Hime, Jacques Morelembaum, Elza Soares, Mario Adnet e Dona Ivone Lara, entre outros. Em 2006 excursionou pela Europa como integrante de um superquarteto formado por Armandinho, Robertinho Silva e Nivaldo Ornellas, obtendo grande sucesso de público. No mesmo ano apresentou seu show solo em Barcelona e gravou dois especiais para as redes de TV RTP, de Lisboa e BBC, de Londres, ao lado de Jacques e Paula Morelembaum e da cantora portuguesa Marisa. ****Seu primeiro CD solo, "É o Violão do Brasil", conta com a participação de alguns dos mais importantes instrumentistas do paÃs como Robertinho Silva, Carlos Malta, Ney Conceição e Duduka da Fonseca entre outros e teve direção musical do violonista Marco Pereira. Neste CD encontra-se a música Delmiro e Aninha, de Gabriel Improta em parceria com o letrista Aldir Blanc.
