About Me

Desi Heights is Somerset's number one advocate of new world music - a DJ with a discerning ear who mixes global sounds with funk, soul, hip hop, African rap and classic tracks. Starring on lead violin and vocals with The Cheapsuit Oroonies, being a founder member of the early Gringo Ska, the Bold Marys (runners up in the 1989 Buttevant busking competition) and Champagne Ziganova, she has also played many a guest spot with Phonetics, 7 Kevins, Far Cue, Morning Star Small Orchestra and loads more diverse and excellent bands. Her experience as a musician and her never-ending quest for higher heights, deeper grooves, wilder and weirder tracks and the latest sounds coming out of Eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia and all other continents (apart from Antarctica maybe) have led to the most danceable and listenable set on the scene.
