Ullulators

About Me

Originating in 1985, The Ullulators, commonly known as a 'spin off' from the band Ozric Tentacles, embarked on an active career as a 'Space rock' band on the then thriving free festival scene in the UK. Formed by Gavin Griffiths, a founder member of Ozric Tentacles, and Joie Hinton of similar fame. The aim of the band was to explore musical territory more diverse and groundbreaking in its exploration of the fusion of world influences and rock styles than its predecessors. This led to the creation of a musical family infused with a genuinely holistic spiritual bond, in the persuite of creative evolution through music. An ideal inherent in the sponsoring energy behind the original creation of the free festival movement of that time. The band was active throughout the latter half of the 80's,playing live gigs frequently at festivals and venues across the UK and europe, producing 3 cassette releases and an album in that time. In 1991 band leader(AKA Fat controller!) Gavin was offered a year touring with Circus Archaos as a member of the group The Thunderdogs, whilst Joie embarked on a career with the now infamous Eat Static. This innevitably led to a halting of the live gigging persuites of the Ullulators, though in no way indicated its demise. There have been a number of independant releases of recorded material since that time and the band has continued to thrive in spirit. Several spin off projects have manifested, and continue to be formulated in conjuction with the busy and progressive careers that all of the original band members have embarked upon since departing the,by then ailing, festival scene at the beginning of the 90's. The latest of these projects is the creation of a duo live performing act with Gavin on guitar & Joie on synths & other wierdness called 'Vissudha Cosmique', a performing concept first realised in 1983 as a result of an astoundingly profound musical experience shared by both Gavin and Joie at that time. Watch this space for updates and info regarding this collaboration. Love & thankfull blessings to all fans for your loving support through the years.Peace. Gavin ;~)Pimp My Profile
