The first ever Manchester Mixtape & CD Festival! Running from Friday 20th-27th April at The Basement Social Centre, Lever Street, Manchester (Piccadilly/Northern Quarter) To celebrate something so central to all our lives.... MUSIC! And the way we experience it and share it with those around us.HOW TO TAKE PART................... Want to be a part of the festival? It relies on YOU making the tapes and CDs for people to come and take. Its simple; record a load of songs on a tape or CD (At least 5 copies please! But the more you can do the better! And while tapes do have that lovely lo-fi analogue quality, remember a lot of people don't own tape players any more, so CDs would be better...), bring them to The Basement and hand them in to the cafe/bookshop staff any time before 20th April, and they will be put out during the festival for other music lovers to take FOR FREE! And you are welcome to come take other people's contributions too. The tapes/CDs can be of any genre or musical style; they can have a theme or just be a random collection of your favourites. Opening night is on Fri 20th April; this is when the contributions will be available for you to browse through for the first time. Opening night will feature a big party, and of course a load of top music. IF YOU WANT TO DJ ON THE OPENING NIGHT there are plenty of spaces available; look out for more details coming soon.
