PM.com was launched after building a solid reputation as a reporter on things that be Metal for a couple of years on such sites as The Metal Circus (where I was the sole US Representative), Maximum Metal & Sea Of Tranquility in the US where I became a core member of staff almost immediately. My need to increase my voice and explore my own objectives a little deeper and firm up my resolve for Metal gives you the result you see here now. I wanted a level of quality on a par to what I was used to as a fan of the genre. My goal was to impact the Metal music scene all the more with our efforts and thus the name was decided and the planning for delivery set up. We took a streamlined and simple design as to how our content would be accessed and thanks to the folks at Hoffman Digital we were able to launch what you see when you open our pages. On "Launch Day" we had every article written in the past and all photos taken instantly available which gave readers a fully-loaded site immediately and no "Coming Soon Sections". We like to think we have delivered this a little differently to you as readers and supporters of the various aspects of the genre. Here is a little more about what is inside our pages
REVIEWS: As a review medium we feature as many articles on new and staple releases that the team can possibly write. With PiercingMetal you are not only going to find CD and DVD reviews but also coverage on Concerts, Books that might interest the Metal Community and Events such as listening parties or showcases. We did this because sometimes there are things that might otherwise pass you and that would not be good to have happen. Our main page features the latest 20 items loaded up and we do aim to add something new almost every day. Every product review features a link to the item on Amazon.com so you will never be left wondering how to get a hold of something that intrigues you. Purchasing via these links not only helps your favorite bands, but also helps PiercingMetal.com since we are an affiliate to the mighty Amazon.com.
CONCERTS: We sure do go to a lot of them and take a ton of photos. It is as simple as that, so we ask that you adventure with us at them or relive them through our efforts. Each concert review and its image gallery draws up related links in Amazon.com that we ask you look into.
CALENDAR of EVENTS & RELEASES: The main page is also home to one of our most popular site features - our area Calendar of Events & Releases. This resource has been making waves as it features as many NYC and surrounding area shows as we are informed about. The team regularly checks and interacts with the popular venues like B.B. King Blues Club, Starland Ballroom and Irving Plaza to see what is happening and as a result you only need to look in one place to plan out your Metal adventures. It's also been helpful to out of state visitors who want to come here and map out the shows they want to see. We find that an amazing occurence. In addition to that the calendar features the key releases from labels such as Century Media Records, Nuclear Blast, SPV and Metal Blade Records. We obviously will not list every single release but the cream of the crop is more than enough to whet your appetite and make you seek more. If you know of shows that are missing, you are welcome to us a MySpace Message about it so we can look into it. Label it properly and be sure to provide official proof as we cannot load up heresay. Record Company reps are welcome to offer information on band showcases for the public as well as meet and greets as applicable. Sorry, we do not list anything unsigned on this calendar so don't even ask about it.
OurArtist Of The Month feature and our Search Engine reside on the main page as well and here is how they work. AOTM is now more of an Artist Focus and no longer changes every single month. Every so often we select a group and make them the focus so by clicking the proper section you call up a page that features every single related item on the whole site. To make this Artist Focus a little more interesting we have been backloading some remasters that were released inn order to add some meat to this content and give more interesting searches. We think you will like the results. The search allows you to use a criteria defined query on anything you type in the box. The entire site is searched and the results presented to you. If you enjoy KISS, just type their name and select Artist and boom all the KISS stuff appears. Give it a try as its kind of interesting to work with.
NEWS & FORUMS:For news we use two reliable sources and that might get added to based on demand and interest going forward but for now it is more than fine. We also have Forums where we try to generate some discussions between the readers and staff and bands. Some areas are readable without signing up but if you want to partake in the giveaways which we do then you need to sign up. Nothing is given away via MySpace anymore - sorry.
BAND SUBMISSIONS/CROSS-NETWORKING: There are some independant bands who have their CD reviewed on our pages but it is not an area that we can focus on based on time constraints and the amount of work on our schedule. We do encourage bands to contact us and submit product for review consideration however, but remember it really needs to knock our socks off to be given any attention based on our committments to major label providers of content. Also, it is advised that you contact the editorial staff via the website as opposed to MySpace. This is more professional and easier to followup on. We WILL not reply to review requests or work submissions via MySpace, so dont even bother if you cant follow our simple requirement.
We have a Blog on MySpace that I encourage you sign up for to be made aware of our updates. I also feature this in the Forums Editorial but since you are here you might as well use the Space to your advantage. We created one of the Space Groups but at present I dont know what to do with it.
*** Metal Edge Magazine *** No, you were not imagining my name in Metal Edge magazine as for several months I was one of the contributing freelancers and was focused on the DVD area as well as the "Hear Us Out" (CD Reviews) sections. I was also asked to provide added content and enjoyed bringing interviews with Jon Oliva, Melechesh and Mnemic to the table when I could. There has also been a great amount of use of my photography in the pages of Metal Maniacs who have used my Venom, Children Of Bodom, and Amon Amarth, Nile, Hypocrisy along with many others. On behalf of the growing family that is PiercingMetal.com I welcome you and look forward to having you along for the ride. We will add you if you request that we do but we ask that you send a message to us first. I like to know where you heard of us, or who sent you along so we can be appreciative. For the bands its more important for if no dialogue has been exchanged and I dont know of you, we are denying the request. While we are here to support the scene we are not about free advertising your shows. too many of that has happened and caused the different stand.
