JT Cane Plays The Best of 80s Hairbands, & Beyond

About Me

HAIRHUT RADIO SHOWTIMES ON WHPC 90.3 FM
Every Saturday morning from 11am to 1pm
Re-broadcast every Wednesday at midnight from 12:00 to 2am
------- Hey all, and welcome to the Hairhut Radio Show. I am JT Cane, your host every Saturday from 11am to 1pm, and re-broadcast Wednesday nights at midnight, on WHPC 90.3 FM, Garden City, New York, playing for you the best of the 1980's Hairband Rock, and BEYOND. That means I will take it one step further and play music outside of the 1980's Hairbands, fresh music included, as long as it generally fits the 80's Hairband vibe. Hey, nothing wrong with a little expansion of the ole musical palette, right?
-------There are many bands that are just breathtaking, and deserve to be heard. Bands like Masterplan, Axel Rudi Pell, Shakra, and Astral Doors, are European in origin, but they definitely keep the faith of the 80's Hairband Rock sound, while certainly maintaining their own identity and style. But we will always continue to play the best cuts, and more importantly, the deep cuts that do not get traditional radio play these days, from the classic 1980's Hairbands that rocked, and made that decade a decade to remember.
------- From time to time, you may hear some of the masters from the decades prior to the 80's Hairband phenomenon. But only the really smokin' cuts. Why? Because if you ask any of the great guitarists from the 80's, or any of today's heavy players, they will all tell you the same thing - that either Hendrix, Blackmore, Trower, Page, Clapton, or Beck, were a MAJOR influence on their style of playing.
------- Van Halen has said many times, that his number one inspiration was Clapton, and that he could play Crossroads the live version, note for note. Not to worry, as I will not play the master's "greatest hits". You won't hear Purple Haze, or Smoke on the Water, or Whole Lotta Love, etc. You can hear that anywhere. I will, however, introduce you to a track or two that you may not have heard. Preferably a live cut. If the cut is too long, I will play only the heaviest and best of the cut to get to the heart of the artist's heart.
------- As always, I invite you all to call in and request some tunes. I always take requests. I'll play'em if I got'em! I would also love to hear your comments and suggestions too. After all, this show is for you. I take criticism well, so don't worry. I will also be doing a bit of trivia from time to time, and giving away some cd's, t-shirts and cool stuff to the winners. Let's see how smart y'all are! Heh, heh, heh. :)
------- The bottom line is that the show is about the music - the Hairband music that made the 1980's famous, and the musicians who broke the musical rules to make it what it was - SPECTACULAR!
------- See you Saturdays, 11am to 1pm on WHPC 90.3 FM, Garden City, New York. The Radio Voice of Nassau Community College
All the best

Band Members:
Just me, JT Cane, and the Hairband Rock that made the 80's famous. Riding shotgun with me sometimes is Erik, aka, Officer Metalhead. Erik has more hardrock cd's than most record stores. His favorites are Kiss, Judas Priest, and most 80's heavy bands.
I mainly play the deeper cuts of the 80's Hairbands. Cuts that you do not traditionally hear on regular terrain rock radio stations anymore. In addition to the great deep cuts of the 80's Hairband Rock, you will hear some of those band's recent work whenever available.
As an extension of the 80's Rock, I will also be playing the new music that is coming out of Europe.
Bands from countries such as Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britian, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Macedonia, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and The Ukraine, are creating some phenomenal music. It is fresh, very original, and sounds amazing. Hope you enjoy it!
