Twyla is a native of Nashville and has been singing since she’s been talking and has the tapes to prove it! Coming from a long line of musicians she has definitely took music to heart. She loves to sing for people and loves the interaction with the crowd. She has sung in church programs, solos in the chorus at school, family reunions and talent shows. She believes that her passion for music truly started in the chorus in middle school. She sang the end of I will Always Love You in the seventh grade the entire auditorium stood up. That was all she needed from then on out she was singing in everything that she could. In high school she was in the Black History Programs and in the talent show her Senior year (that is what she did as far as music was concerned). Her senior superlative was most talented. Twyla attended Belmont University where she was forced to sing in several ensembles, but auditioned for the bigger POP ensemble Belmont Pops and the more intimate jazz ensemble Jazzmin. The tradition in Jazzmin was for each of the seniors to have a solo. Twyla’s song was the last on the program. She would help close the concert with the song Cool. Her vocal coach H. Smiley said, “Girl that is what I have been trying to get out of you for four years!†After the concert was over she was told by Amy Grant and Vince Gill that she had the smoothest voice they had ever heard ok but the real question was/is DEAL OR NO DEAL???? LOL! She graduated from Belmont with a degree in Commercial Music with a Performance emphasis. She loves to sing but does realize that it doesn’t always pay the bills so she has a 40 hour gig as well.ABOUT THE SONGS ON THIS PAGE:
She worked with two of her good friends from college on 3 of the 5 songs on her page. If you need an awesome beat P would be the one for you to call. His beats are "Hot to Def". They have a group also called 2PM please visit their myspace page www.myspace.com/twoprophetsandamike and listen to their other songs. The Lord's Prayer is one of Twyla's favorite songs she has ever performed. She has sang it in many of her friend weddings accapella as well with an accompanist. She also has sang it for many church services. Elevate was the first rap song Twyla ever participated in. She was very reluctant, but her friend Johnny always told her if you can remember OutKast lyrics and their inflections you can flow yourself. She was adamant in telling the guys that she didn’t want to rap. And they were adamant about getting her on this track. She ended up having the time of her life working on this song. She is also singing background on this song. Get It Right is not the first songs that she started working on with the guys from school, but is definitely her favorite song that they have completed thus far. She actually performed it at Love Noise a few years ago....it has also been called Miscommunication. The basics of the song is hey we may argue and we may fight, but it doesn't matter as long as we get it right (make up!). Twyla sang for a couple of years around town with a band called Soul Intoxication and is interested in gigging again! ENJOY! Please take a moment to listen to her songs and give some constructive criticism. music layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com
